This is my presentation drawing of the site and final design before and after. With the final I decided to give the design materiality and texture and then added in some photographs and other layers over the elevation to give it some colour and more information. I also layered over my site plan with lines to show human movement but very lightly as I didn't want this to take over from the rest of the composition.
For my final design I decided for my client to host an event where she will cook and invite people to come to eat and sit around the site, and once they are finished she would collect the objects and bits and pieces left behind and arrange them in different ways to photograph, and then at the end of the three days that she will be staying there for, an exhibition would be held to showcase this work. I also chose this part of the site at the front corner with the window as I wanted people to be able to view her space from the inside as well.
So I wanted to have the design to be fluid in the sense that everything joins up so the path turns into a table and so on. I also wanted to play with perspective and also have the tables start to tilt so food may start sliding off and this would also create an interesting canvas for the client to work off. I also thought it would be good for the structure to be able to fold up so she can easily set it up and pack it away each day. I also decided that this structure would be made out of cork sheets as this is recycled down form wine corks, which are usually left behind and rejected objects which she focuses on in her work.
With these two collages I decided to use detail photographs, sketches and a couple of different material rubbings that I taken form the site and put these into the one composition.
With this drawing I decided to layer over my sketches of the light and shadow at different times of the day and then placed cropped photographs and other images over the top to give it some colour, texture and more information. And then also included some people in it to show movement and scale.
Brief two asked us to go to our given site and produce a variety of site analysis. The site is the ACCA (Australian Center for Contemporary Art) building in Southbank, Melbourne. For the site analysis we were asked to produce technical drawings, mappings and diagrams, photos, drawings, material investigations, sound recordings and anything else that we felt would assist the project. So this particular body of work is to be developed over the next few weeks. These are some photographs that I have taken of the site on different days at different times. These photographs also document some different weather conditions and light and shadow as well.
