hey! do you know if balsa wood is safe for rats? i have a bunch of it and i was hoping to make some chew toys out of it

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I was away for the weekend and didn’t take my laptop. 

I’ve done a bit of a search online, balsa wood isn’t on any ‘safe’ lists I can find, but also isn’t on ‘not safe’ lists! In fact, there’s really not much info about it. I can find one yahoo answers asking about it and the one answer said that as long as it’s untreated it’s probably fine. 

I can’t give you a straight answer as I don’t know. I would suggest to do your own research and come to your own decision. The fact that it’s not on ‘toxic’ lists is reassuring though!
