SINCE ALFIE HAD sorted his new stream set up you found bedtime to be extremely lonely. He would always tell you he wasn’t planning on streaming for long, but then midnight would come and go and you would still hear his laughter echoing downstairs. You were bored of it already.
After a particularly long day all you wanted was to curl into his side and sleep for hours on end. You thought he was going to join you. All while you got ready for bed he didn’t say a word about streaming, not until you were just about to slip under the covers and finally get what you’d been dreaming about all day. Until George texted him.
“Think I’m gonna hop on with George for a bit. Don’t wait up for me.” He placed his hands on either side of your head, kissing the top of your hair. You almost whined when he left the room. Why did the universe hate you?
You debated going downstairs for a long time. At first you just got in bed, grumbling to yourself, tossing and turning. It took a while to realise you weren’t going to fall asleep, not into a pleasant sleep at least, while you were in this kind of mood. Basically, whether you liked it or not you were going to have to go and admit to Alfie that you needed him to fall asleep. Even if that meant telling George yourself that Alfie had to go to bed.
He saw movement in the camera screen first, turning to face you just as you came down the last step.
“Hey…” He moved his headset off one ear, reaching a hand out to you so he could hold you. You tucked yourself into his side, conscious that all the viewers on his stream were looking at you in your bunny pyjamas. “Was I being too loud?”
His voice was soft, quieter than any of his viewers had ever heard it before. It was surprising his mic was even able to pick it up.
You shook your head, placing your hand on his cheek. “Missed you. Don’t like falling asleep on my own,” you admitted.
His heart thumped. “I won’t be much longer. Do you want to join me?”
You nodded.
Alfie rolled his chair back just far enough so you could curl up into his lap. He didn’t tuck himself back towards his desk until you promised you were comfortable. It took him another few minutes after that to get back to his game.
He didn’t know how long you were asleep before he actually noticed. You hadn’t been offering any commentary or anything of the sort, so he had no way of keeping track if you were awake or not.
It was his chat being spammed with messages like ‘awe’ and ‘she’s gone’ that made him aware.
“I think she’s fully out,” he whispered. He didn’t want to jostle you too much, but he wasn’t sure if you’d actually fallen asleep or if you were just trying to. If he was able to reach his phone he might have taken a picture of how sweet you looked. He couldn’t wait for this moment to be clipped later on so he could watch it back. “I think I might have to call it a night, you lot.”
If the viewers looked closely they would see the tiniest victory smile sneak onto your face.
