forgot to post this a while back….an attempt was made at concept art

character doodles and “failed” experiments

finalizing the design for an oc of mine, from a comic i’ve been working on for almost 8 years now lol (and will likely take another 8 years before it’s ready to publish, but it’s a story i’m really invested in and want to take the time to get it right)

and a couple attempts at illustration that didn’t quite work out the way i’d hoped…i thought i’d share anyway bc hey at least i improved some of my techniques while doing so. i’ve been gradually developing a style for comics, and this is the beginner stage of how it’ll look eventually :)

when it comes to original illustration, i’m pretty terrible at coming up with random characters on the spot, so i have to design them beforehand. these’ll just be one-off pieces so there won’t be lore behind them (or even names lol) but it’s fun to see what kinds of mini-backstories make their way into the designs :)

ink drawing #2 - i didn’t use a particular prompt this time; i just decided i wanted to draw a weird kid w a weird scarf

decided to treat this series of drawings as character design practice. idk about y’all, but i find it next to impossible to come up w a character on the spot for one of my full-background drawings, so this’ll give me a library to draw from in the future. who knows, maybe i’ll add some color to the next one :)

trying a color palette i don’t normally use ✨

ngl this piece was a huge struggle from beginning to end…i redrew both the character and the building at some point, used a gazillion layers and layer modes, and called it done at least 7(?) different times? even after all that i still have mixed feelings about how it turned out, but hey, maybe y’all will enjoy it anyway :)

first ink practice drawing! the prompt was “audio”, suggested by @nintendo-switch-2 :)

i’ve been trying to work on my inking! my usual style depends a lot on the rendering to add contrast and readability, so i wanted to develop a second style more suitable for comics. this past weekend i picked up a copy of the first issue of “ghost pepper” by ludo lullabi, and…wow. if i had a genie at my disposal then after getting the wish for more wishes sorted out i’d wish to be able to draw like that. (and this was totally accidental but this character bears some resemblance to a character from ghost pepper, as it was on my mind, haha)

anyway, if you didn’t know, my eventual goal is to get into the comics industry! i have a massive project i’ve been working on for 6 (almost 7) years now that needs to be seen by the world…it’ll be a while before i get there of course, so in the meantime i’ll keep practicing w quick drawings like this :)

hehe…sorry for disappearing for the entirety of june, but i was working on a comic! here’s the first few pages of it (call it part 1 of chapter 1)

as this is my first comic, there’ll be a lot of trial and error, things to work out, etc. i’ve already learned a lot from these 8 pages and hopefully will continue to improve as i make it, so pls bear with me :)

i can’t say for sure what the update schedule will be, but i’m already working on the next part! i’ll be posting the pages just to my socials for now, and if it gets enough momentum i’ll think about creating a website for it.
