In honor of my all time favorite season and favorite time of year (besides the countdown to Christmas of course), I decided to dedicate a short little post to my 10 favorite things about fall.
First and foremost, I am a basic white girl at heart. I live for pumpkin spice everything. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice frappuccinos, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins. You name it, I’ve probably consumed it. For me, it isn’t really fall yet until I’ve had a pumpkin spice latte, most like the day that they came out at Starbucks (August 28, 2018) on my way to school or work.
I’m a sweater fanatic. Hoodies, crew necks, sweater dresses. I love them all. Once the weather reaches about 60 (maybe even 70 with some shorts, who knows), it’s always a sweater, all the time. I think I own more sweaters in my closet and dresser than I do work shirts for both of my jobs.
I absolutely love football, one of my favorite sports that I never actually got to play growing up. I love the energy and the atmosphere. I love the game play. It’s always fun and entertaining listening to people from out of town try to tell you as to why the Patriots suck and why TB12 isn’t actually the GOAT.
My second favorite Holiday, after Christmas of course. I’ve always been someone that’s loved dressing up, everything scary, as well as going around trick-or-treating as a kid (not that I was really a huge candy person). Obviously now since I’m 21, it’s frowned upon, but I think I love seeing the little kids trick-or-treating more than when I did it. It’s fun seeing their costumes, and nodding and smiling while they tell you what they are, and occasionally bring it in for a hug with all the excitement.
I know you can have apple cider all year round. I’ve bought it in the middle of July just because i was craving it. But, there’s absolutely nothing like have a fresh cup of apple cider on a cool, crisp fall day, sitting outside enjoying the weather. Or, even sitting inside staying warm. There’s just something about it that feels like home.
I didn’t understand the whole foliage thing until I turned maybe 19 or 20. I’ve always loved the smell of the leaves and the way they crunch under your feet when you walk, but there’s nothing like driving up to New Hampshire or Vermont and just seeing miles upon miles of colors right in front of you.
I love boots. I always, always buy at least one pair every fall, and maybe even get a pair for Christmas too if I’m lucky. And it’s always only in the fall and winter I feel like I can wear them without being judged since the summer’s always so freaking hot. So, I make sure to wear out the boots’ welcome and wear them every day that I can.
Thanksgiving, the one day a year I’m allowed to eat as much as I want without getting a guilt trip (although my family still likes to guilt trip each other as if it’s not a national holiday). Honestly, I’m more excited about Thanksgiving because it usually means I’m only 1 day away from putting up all the Christmas decorations in my house, and if any of you know me on a personal level, Christmas music is most likely playing during Thanksgiving dinner.
Haunted Amusement Parks / Hayrides
Again, I love scary things. I’m the type of person that will walk first into a haunted house, and then laugh when something jumped out trying to scare me. I love the costumes and the ghoulish creatures. I love fear that it brings out in people. I’ve always said that if I need an extra side job, on top of the 2 I already have, maybe I’ll become an extra for Halloween and scare the shit out of people.
I’m just THAT much closer to Christmas
The first day of Fall is officially September 22, 2018, which means that there’s exactly 94 days, from that date, until Christmas day. 94 days until Christmas dinner, presents, movie marathons, bottomless mimosas, cookies, and everything in between.
