had dream about a conan dub movie that had an obnoxious opening song/sequence that made me want to skip it. the movie involved an industrial accident in a swamp area that killed a bunch of people who were thrown off of a construction tower when it half-collapsed. one guy survived by hanging on in a different spot. there were bombs disguised as portable radios/stereos, but there was also a helpful ghost haunting a benign radio inside a gigantic excavator. there was a sixth db member who was some random normal girl and i was trying to remember what her name was. haibara was there and she said "what, do you think I'm fucking 2 years old?!" and screamed on purpose at whoever she was talking to at an earsplitting frequency. i was cone for like 5 seconds where someone was asking me if i had solved the mystery yet and i thought i was decidedly nicer about explaining it to whoever asked than he would actually have been. or something. this has been a certified friday night post-work sleep where my brain heals from the horrors. thanks

had dreams:

-alternate scenario where yukiko is rhe one who is shrunk at tropical land (probably reflecting sera and her mom) and yusaku is also there and shinichi runs off to chase the baddies

-tried to convince kogoro to let me come to japan to teach english but I was trying to write and spell out a bionicle piraka name in katakana while bagging groceries in yellow mesh bags to weigh on a scale and i immediately failed whatever test that was. ran was disappointed they didnt hire me because i was being described by the hirers as generally childish and she thought there should be more teachers like that. i was like, well at least ran has my back i guess?

-someone going through textures of a dc game and lots of flattened half life 2 style faces of dc characters that were amusing

dreamt that there was some sort of TV special where a kid got a conan charm and it came to life and there were a bunch of cartoon characters like the scooby-doo gang running around a mall with them and causing chaos. ayumi was sitting in a tire tied to something moving (mall train?) and riding around the floor on it as some sort of radar method. ran and sonoko were there but sonokos hair was done up weird. this was a tv special for some other shonen sunday series that aired before the dc anime had begun, so nothing was set in stone. then in another part heiji was at some sort of resort in japan and i was there and nervous to talk to him because my japanese was probably extremely rusty. there was also a girl that looked like kazuha in a group of people at another part of the resort who recognized me and I couldn't tell for sure if it was her and i was worried about my facial recognition skills. thats it

Good news - presentation of my grad work's over and I am (almost) graduated! Yay! Now back to drawing lol

VIZ Media has just announced they will re-publish the Detective Conan manga under its real title and with the original names!! The revamped volumes will be published as 3-in-1 editions, starting Spring 2027!!

yeah so like someone put the mall map from case closed the mirapolis investigation in vrchat but you cant jump or go on the people mover or the escalators!!! so i fucked around in the tiny amount of square footage you can observe the map from

the primordial terror i felt seeing the 2009 wii game as the singular relevant search result for "conan" did not live up to expectations but maybe someday it will!!

I had this long dream about a dubbed cone movie I was getting/trying to get my family to watch with me. it was "the fourth movie from 1999". for some reason i also claimed it was from 1936 which was not true even in the dream. in the movie, initially it was about exploring ancient ruins in peru and i made a joke to myself about imperialism. then there were three additional kids that were helping the detective boys but they were also ghosts that had went to the same school and so they were around, either helping or harming, and one ghost girl with dark hair and pigtails was murderous/vengeful. there were baby pikachu things and i had to chase the mom (a cat?) out of the house while the ghost kids watched. there were like 6 cats in the house they were in. there was a bizarre dub-only extra animated segment that looked like scribbly pencil drawings. the DB hung out in this gross place that was called something that translated roughly to "the shit shack" and was owned by like this fucking poop demon protecting them that was like sukamon from digimon or something. haibara did some sort of psychological analysis that confirmed the three kids were ghosts and not aptxed teenagers or whatever. genta did not have a sense of smell. conan did really good at soccer and heiji who was watching said it was because he beat the regionals 3 times before on the field they were playing on. then there was like a dvd extras kind of quiz course for 6 players (and/or the story characters?) that we had to keep repeating because we kept picking the wrong answers. the DB were aiming for correct answers but you needed a majority to pick the right one? and then i was cone briefly and for one of the quiz answers i had to sit and stay completely silent and when it was over i fell over after staying still for so long. kogoro and akai and some nonexistent characters as well showed up to either chase or join up briefly with the DB as they proceeded through the quiz which was like a damn dk64 minecart level in visual scope. then i was me again but we were getting lost in a japanese grocery store that replaced our local kroger and i asked ran (dub name was not rachel but something else) if she needed any menstrual pads (she did not) and also reassured my sister who was also there that it was just a normal store even if all the text was in japanese. there was also a new manga store in the same strip mall and i really wanted to go there. the evil ghost kids followed us but they also had an adult ghost who was their guardian that looked like he worked there with a work apron on. i found the evil ghost girl coming out of a bathroom stall and i was conan again and was like thank god she hasn't killed anyone yet. i slept really good lol

I had a dream last night about watching a bunch of detective conan with my family and there was this episode arc with a girl who had blue skin and was bald and was like a trauma victim or something and she had some sort of metatextual presence that I had thought was a really good turn for the series. I told my siblings about how in like 2012 this arc originally came out and it blew my mind or changed everything or something. sonoko and ran were there and I was sad about her voice actress. I washed my hands in the bathroom and cone was in there fiddling with this weird combination door lock device to get it set up and I was like cool im gonna wash my hands. then there was this episode arc where sera was small and she was hiding on a rooftop from shukichi or akai or something but then later she just walked by and they didn't notice. then everyone was drawing the cast of the whole series on an internet drawing app. and then there was an icesnort video that was really long but also had some mention of dc in it.

It has been just announced that Wakana Yamazaki, Ran's VA, passed away on April 18th at the age of 61.

Earlier this year, on February 16, Yamazaki stated that she would be taking a leave of absence from voicing Ran due to undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness. Since then, her role as Ran in Detective Conan was supposed to be temporarily handed over to Akemi Okamura. Her agency stated that the treatment was not successful, and she succumbed to her illness. Okamura will now be the voice of Ran going forward.

Gosho Aoyama also offered his condolences:

“It is incredibly heartbreaking to think that I will never again hear that gentle, comforting voice that always felt so naturally close by…”

Ran Mouri VA just passed away...I am just devastated especially as a detective conan fan who been with the series for years now. I genuinely cannot imagine Ran with any other voice.

I havent talked about my biggest, most evil gripe enough lately with dc, and the reason why i dont talk about it with other friends much if at all, so: it fucking sucks that haibara gets to be made by a creator who basically has made a great female character healing from a horrible past, but also seems to occasionally cater specifically to fucking lolicons (remember the panty shot in the hotel that one time?) and her character cannot truly fucking exist, or be appreciated, without that huge asterisk hanging over her that denotes the gross "its okay because shes a 1000 year old child" pedophilic culture in general. which propagates so visibly and blatantly in so many different anime and manga. would that audience for the character have occurred regardless of goshos standards? probably, but it feels like sometimes he caters/catered to them specifically. not that he doesnt also bungle a lot of the teenaged and adult female characters too anyway. it comes away with a sick feeling. thanks a lot gosho you fucking bonehead Fuck you man
