Rough Hands || Dojima and Shinjiro
Shinjiro folded the menu closed and laughed quietly, a small smirk on his face. “I never need a reason to spar, so if you do ever want to feel young again, I’d be more than happy to humor you.” Of course, he knew in that scenario Dojima would most likely be humoring him, but it was hard to say. The detective looked like someone who could hold his own in any sort of fight, whether it was for fun or not.
“Well, you’ve got a lot more experience on the subject than I do, that’s for sure,” Shinjiro responded, gray eyes falling on the wedding band the other man twisted around his finger. “Not that that’s saying much.” It was true—when it came to girls, he had no game. Not necessarily because he couldn’t talk to them, but because the idea of having someone care about him was so terrifying he tried to diminish the possibility of that ever happening in the first place.
When he glanced over at the waitress he nodded and handed the menu back over to her. “I think I’m gonna go for the apple. I’ve never had a piece of pie that wasn’t good, although some pies are better than others. I’m still trying to perfect my apple pie, but I think I’d just much rather have someone else make it for me.”
He liked this kid, he really did. He had guts and spunk but Dojima could also really tell that he had a lot of good in him. "Alright kid." He chuckled, "I'll be sure to set a time up if I ever think you need a good ass kicking."
Dojima shrugged, "I don't know about that." he admitted, "I've only really had one serious relationship in my entire life and I married her. But then again, dating's a young man's game and it tends to change very quickly." And Dojima was way too old and uninterested in finding another partner. Things were too complicated with his job and his daughter. He really didn't need to be dating. He really didn't want to be dating.
Dojima fumbled with his wedding band again. It still hurt, but he was no longer bothered by talking about her. If anything, he was glad to. His memories of her were always fond.
"I usually have them surprise me." He told him, "But I think I'll go with the apple tonight too. You ought to come by the station with some food, might get you out of trouble."
