and out of the darkness - you you you you you
This hug is on par with Ghibli level warmth and soul-quenching preciousness. Oh my word... Rocky has two arms for full hugs and one for head scratches. Perfect design.

"But now its only me"
"Only Us."
Soooooo I've finally gotten to watch Project Hail Mary.
It was great. 100% want to watch it again.
It was a cinematic masterpiece. Stunning visuals. Beautiful scenes. Besutiful chracaters. Beautiful story.
I need to read the book so bad but i am a poor reader.
I dont actually draw fanart for stuff very often. even stuff i absolutly adore and will watch, read, or play a million times over. So how i drew this, I dont even know. I was mid uploading my science homework (that im a little behind in) in the early evening. Next minuete its nearly 11pm and i'm knee deep in a nearly completed drawing (which i havent managed to draw anything other then wips and sketches for the last couple weeks) and now theres this. And the only connecting memory i have in between those two moments was " I hope my friend (whos very into PHM and been waiting for me to watch it) likes this. I should ask them their fav qoute" and suddenly that was my motovation to finish it but i dont think it started out that way but i also have no fathomable idea where i even got the drawing idea from cause my pinterest fyp has been filled with ducklings and nothing else the past few days so. Yeah.
Also that quilt sucks (in a good way) omyword, i didnt even commit to doing it properly and had to scour a bit to find a hood enough refference which you cant ecen see well in the end drawing lol.
I blacked out and locked in in the wrong way, bruuuuh i was supposed to get weeks uni work done.
the true worst enemy
WIP Maki character page in the working while we combat the entirety of the next session, fighting off some goons trying to steal our money lol, and we're willing to fight to the literal near death for it? yes, yes we are.
Evoker subclass has been coming in clutch with some close ranged fireballs lemme tell ya.
Edit: smiting and roasting the living day lights out of the overwhelming group of enemies and dm still no lvel us up o(TヘTo)
Piece by Piece ....
[commissions]
Painting this guy is a lot more difficult getting him to look like him instead of the usual 2d sharp line paper art style he rocks in the anime ngl.
Got a new Pen display (hurray!!!) and drew these two while working out the kinks and pen settings and sensitivities and so forth. Had to christen my new drawing device with sketching Shu li, then ofc my current obsession messing around with some pens and layers using ya Boy. really loving this thing, will be drawing a LOT more, gotta put this thing to use.
this is so devastating. laois should have just shot him with a gun
How the fuck have I never reblogged this. (Also, preserving op's tags)
"What do you fear the most?"
"A world in which there is no "shape", "truth", and "reason".
A world in which I am not needed."
I couldn't remember exactly what he said in this moment but it was sthm along these lines. When i first saw this scene I thought it was really interesting. We get it near the start of the anime where this mysterious and very unknown medicine peddler guy is out slaying mononoke for whatever duty bound reason. This scene comes up and he is faced with what he truly fears most in the world, even though he knows its only an illusion. "A world where there is no "shape "truth" and "reason". Which is seemingly all this guy seems to know, so practically his entire existence and identity from what we know. I was really curious as to what he was gonna fear and tbh this wasn't what i was expecting. but shed some light on his character a bit. I might be reading into this way more then it could've been intended too but it kinda seems like despite his cynical nature and kinda "tired-of-it" attitude he doesn't know anything more then this life. maybe that cause he's not human (?) seen some where people saying he (along with the rest of the medicine sellers in the universe) are Kitsune (which would makes sense with the intentional fox-featured designs) Regardless, maybe it was because he knew it was only an illusion but some ways it looks like he just embraces it. Theory - despite it being all he knows he is also so tired of it all and in some ways wishes it to end. Idk i like theorizing about this guys psychology, we don't get a lot about him and he's so aloof, i love how little the anime lets us see from his perspective.

I’ve been enjoying the new witch hat anime as well as catching up to the most recent updates of the manga ✨ I’ve always loved the borders and details in the manga I wanted to replicate that ✨ this will be a blanket and print ❤️
✨HAPPY WITCH HAT ATELIER DAY✨
He is my new favorite thing omyword
I adore Ri. He is so bonita (✿◡‿◡).
It has been a million years since I've been this in love with a character design, he is so beautiful ~( ̄▽ ̄)~* He is the prettiest lil thing (when I saw he had fangs for the first time I might've gone a lil feral rrgrghrghrgrhr)
Only just saw the anime like 3 days ago with my sister, and we've just finished the 2 movies as well yesterday.
Been referencing a bunch of screenshots of the anime (2007 mwah, absolutely stunning visuals) and Dam, this boy is the most has the most expressionistic non-expression face. The anime does subtle expression so incredibly well, like DAM, its soooooooooooooo good, every tiny detail is required to perfectly convey his limited expressiveness and somehow they portray a huge amount of emotion with the smallest details, it's amazing. beautiful. I could stare at his face all day (I have been and) I love his face so much, mwah mwah mwah, perfect fox features. He's also probably the prettiest fox-featured character I think I've seen that actually looks like a fox. Also, is it just me, (it could seriously just be the blonde hair, pointed ears, and similar pointed features) but does he remind anyone else of Link? (Legend of Zelda, duh) first time i saw him i was Immediately hit with Link vibes, like heavy, like it's kinda giving TP Link but if he was a Sheikah?? I could just be insane, but alas.
A Thought I Had Rewatching Mononoke
I was rewatching Mononoke 2007 and a thought came to me, specifically about The Medicine Seller (of Ri)'s personality. !! Spoilers for episodes 9, 10, and 11 of Ayakashi; Samurai Horror Tales and TW for mentions of non-con!! My dad had already seen both the movies (I made my parents watch them for my birthday), so I was showing specific arcs of the show to my dad since he agreed to watch it with me (ty Dad ^w^). Because he didn't want to watch the OG and get stuck reading subtitles for most of the episodes and missing visual details, I put it onto the Dub. Now, personally, I am not a Dub girly, but I did find myself enjoying it just because I was realizing that there was certain jokes I wasn't getting due to me not being a native Japanese speaker. All of that got me thinking about The Medicine Seller's actions and words choices, specifically his attitude towards humans.
In the show, The Medicine Seller really seems to have this, almost disdain for the living humans that are connected to the Mononoke, with the exception of a few humans he seems to like; for example, Kayo. That being said, unless you are someone like Kayo (someone who really doesn't have much to do with the creation of the Mononoke and was unfortunately caught in the crossfire), he really seems to have this barely contained dislike of humans. It's never really explained or expanded upon, but neither really is anything else about him and it's consistent enough throughout all of his appearances that it could very easily just be a personality trait of his, but I'm not 100% sure. Since I was rewatching the 2007 Mononoke show, I figured why not revisit the place where The Medicine Seller of Ri is first introduced; the final arc of Ayakashi; Samurai Horror Tales, and it was there that I really got this thought from. I actually think that this original Bakeneko arc was what caused Ri to have such a disdain for humans. !! There will be spoilers beyond this point !! In this arc, the Sakai family are being haunted by a Bakeneko resulting from the grudge of a woman one of the men of the family kidnapped and kept hostage. By the end of the episodes, we learn that the woman (named Tamaki) was caged, abused, and s3xually used by multiple men in the family. While captive, Tamaki managed to find a kitten, which she nurtured secretly until she eventually starved to death and her grudge then passed to her kitten, which then became the Bakeneko. Throughout these episodes, The Medicine Seller is quite a bit more expressive than in the 2007 show; he's more animated, he actively voices his anger and disapproval when the humans say/do/attempt to do something stupid, he reassures Kayo when she is scared, and he makes a lot more dry jokes. We watch him get hurt, we watch him mess up, we watch him get knocked out and temporarily lose. I think the biggest difference between his Ayakashi depiction and his 2007 depiction, however, is probably his face. He grins, he scowls, he expresses visible shock and pain, his nose wrinkles in distaste, etc, etc; all these things that he doesn't really do in the 2007 show. The part where that changes, however, is after finding out the Makoto and Kotowari; the Truth and Reason. After he learns about what actually happened, why the Bakeneko came into being, that previous expressiveness kind of shuts down. We watch Kayo sink to the floor in tears and Odajima (another character who didn't actually have anything to do with Tamaki's abuse) cover his eyes as if he was going to be sick. But The Medicine Seller? He just stands there. If you watch through the credits, there's a bit at the end where they wrap up the arc, Kayo saying she's going to go back to her parents house, Odajima not knowing where he's gonna go after, yada yada, and there's a part where The Medicine Seller has to talk with the main abuser post slaying of the Bakeneko. The Medicine Seller looks so, disgusted by the man, he really just looks like he wants out of there ASAP. His behavior then mirrors his 2007 counterpart for the rest of the final episode, a lot more unreadable and flat. And this is where I tie back to my original thought; I think that this specific mission might be the reason he holds such a disdain for humans, specifically human men (there are very few women he dislikes or shows outward animosity to in the show). He's clearly much younger during the Ayakashi Bakeneko arc than he is in the main show, his powers aren't as refined, and he makes a few incorrect guesses and mistakes, which can absolutely explain why he's so much more expressive. That being said, The Medicine Seller of Kon is also expressive, but his powers are very strong and refined, so I think the main reason why the Medicine Seller of Ri is the way he is is because he'd seen the ugliness of humans at a much younger age than Kon; it's why he's so much less likely to deal with people's bullshit than Kon would be. Anyways, that's it! Just a thought I had.
Happy Wednesday before Karakasa.
entering the mononoke fandom the only way i know: by making shitpost.
I haven't seen this done yet
