For a long time I felt the same as you, and I still definitely feel like there’s much more to a person than their sexuality. However, I also realised part of that feeling was a form of internalised homophobia for me (not saying it is the same for you)

I also recognise that for people who couldn’t fit in anywhere before, finally finding others they can relate to means they go to extremes to show they’re part of something. It can be very comforting and afremming for them.

I know it was a hot take but I just wanted to share this perspective :)

i completely understand the want for a role model when you’re younger and maybe struggling with accepting yourself, absolutely!! i just find that for me at least, it doesn’t need to be such a massive part of your life. i know i’m lucky to have very supportive family and friends so maybe it’s different but i never got the whole ‘this has to be my personality’ thing 🫣
