archie is jughead’s third rail but have we thought about how archie is betty’s safety net 🤔?? rewatching the christmas episode and thinking about how archie is like the founder of the girl next door persona that betty wishes she was. none of their relationship feels real it’s entirely tropes and they only look to each other when their relationships with other people fail they’re each other’s coping mechanisms in a way because they just see each other as the idealized/innocent versions of themselves whenever their relationships with veronica and jughead fallout they blame themselves since veronica and jughead know their flaws and love them for it even if they don’t want to believe it but betty and archie don’t acknowledge them at all archie will always see betty as the perfect girl he grew up with and betty hates it because that isn’t who she is but she unknowingly does the same thing with archie she will always subconsciously see him as the boy that proposed to her when they were in 2nd grade which they both find comfort in it whenever things get hard and want to pretend for a minute that their lives are simpler like when they kissed after betty found out her great grandpa was a murderer
