Everything in the universe is impermanent except the unseen cosmic observer that perceives the phenomena of ever-changing appearances. That which is ‘real’ is constant and cannot change because it transcends names, time, age, locality and form.
The reason you cannot recognize your fundamental essence (prior to this or that) is because your Imageless Self is obscured by thoughts that are deeply embedded in your mind (opinions, beliefs, memories, fears, addictions, habits, storyline and social conditioning).
