get it. like. a dozen of eggs? bonus, excited dunkle sans tells mom about baby’s first pun:
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ The hand twitched as it was climbed over, grabbing around uselessly in the air before disappearing. The lack of a child in the way confused Contempt enough to make him stop and turn around, irritation showing on his face.]
* What… are you… doing?
They made a small tumble to the pit black ground, easily regaining their balance with a few hops and steps, arms spread for extra measure. That worked out pretty well, huh? The riskiness of the action certainly wasn’t lost upon them, especially given the monster’s reaction, but when you’re left with so few options.
“I need to get home and you’re the only one here....”
// I’m not really feeling up to things right now so I’ll get to replies in a little bit...
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ Contempt continued on. He was tired of the child. While he wouldn’t turn and acknowledge them, he did summon another hand to block their way and hopefully spook them into running in the other direction.
Not even worth the effort of killing again, apparently.]
Spooking them hadn’t been the real effect. More so, they stood there for a second, contemplating if they could just go around or if the hand would block them at every attempt. A moment passes before they furrow their brows, push up their sleeves and simply climb over the obstacle in their way.
Clearly that was the best and honestly more entertaining option.
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ He watched as they reformed, his wide grin now having faded to something a little less intense. As entertaining as it was to rip a living human limb from limb.. it could only be done in so many ways. And all with the same result.
Just like that, he’d become bored with them.
His screens scroll for a moment before disappearing again, along with the two pairs of hands. Not gracing the child with a response, he simply turned and began to drift in the other direction.]
Determination won again. Sort of.
Being left alone in this place, however, didn’t seem like much of a victory. From every other angle there was only an endless black and if they were to lose the only other person(?) then what was to guarantee they’d find him again or anyone else again for that matter. They were a child yes, but they were smart enough to know when a situation was going from bad to worse.
“Mm....”
Following at a distance, they toy with their sleeves in a silent fit of nervousness. Hanging around a monster who’s made them reset three times was probably better than being lost forever. At least, in the mindset that Contempt could maybe have a way for them to get home. Frisk.....hoped......
“Wait, please....”
undertale sketch
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ The hands spun around them as they spoke before suddenly grabbing onto their limbs, spinning the child along with them before promptly tearing the poor thing to pieces. Contempt only laughed.]
* What a… futile, worthless thing… determination truly is.
* I bet you’re… going to come back again… and again… despite knowing your fate… is sealed.
[✱ He waited.]
And they did.
Their poor, battered SOUL shattered and reformed for the nth time. Their body repaired to its fullest with the underlying pain being hidden behind a stiff and narrowed expression. Frisk picked themselves up, wobbling only a bit to the side before steadying.
If they believed this was the end for them then surely they wouldn’t be getting back up. They were the one with the save file in their reach. They decided when they were done and they weren’t done until they could get home. To their family. Whether Contempt liked it or not, he wasn’t going to get rid of Frisk quite that easily.
“Why are you so mean?”
A sillier question could not have ever been said so seriously as Frisk had just managed.
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ This time, he watched closely as Frisk popped back into existence. Multiple screens appeared and scrolled wildly behind him as he loomed over the collapsed child. When they stood, his pose straightened, a scowl now gracing his features.]
* Your… Determination… is quite the pesky thing.. isn’t it?
* Staying dead… would probably be a… better course of action.
[✱ Four hands surround the human, fingers curled towards them.]
They give an abrupt and adamant shake of the head, fist clenched tightly at their sides to the point they could feel their nails digging into their palms. It was all they could do not to start shaking, if not because of fear but from the lingering aches and pains from yet another reloading of the save file.
“I wanna go home.”
They insisted as though if just by saying it with enough force of will their wish would be granted. Even as they had become surrounded they didn’t drop this childishly brave demeanor.
“I wanna go back to my friends....!”
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ His grin only returned. What a noisy, frightened thing this child was. Absolutely delightful. Data continued to scroll across the screen – this time at a more hurried pace than before – before the light disappeared. … What had they said? Sans?]
* …… Do not… say that name… like you expect… to be helped.
[✱ In a quick, violent motion, the hands darted apart.]
[ R I I I I I P ]
They had felt that one. If only for a moment. A sudden pain and then nothing at all. Yet again there was a glimmer, a little red SOUL cracking to pieces, and once again pulling itself back together. Rinse and repeat. Just like the first time.
Frisk’s form was repaired in an instant. You didn’t even have to blink to miss it. For a long moment they just lied there, breathing slowly, curling their fingers to make sure they still could before slowly just picking themselves up again. They’re bones and muscles burned with the movement but they continued regardless.
The familiarity of it all made their stomach churn.
“Stop it....”
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ The hands separated to grab onto either of the child’s arms, hoisting them up to eye level with the fragment. He looked over them carefully, occasionally rotating them or forcefully turning their head with a third summoned hand.
A screen flickered to life beside him. Data seemed to be input of its own accord – height, weight, their words, everything.
But it appeared he wasn’t listening to said words. The two massive hands pull lightly in either direction, no doubt giving the human a clear indication of what he was about to do. Hm, hm, hm.]
Another small yelp escaped them as they were hoisted off the ‘ground’ unexpectedly. This was bad. BAD. BAD. BAD. BAD. B A D. They kick their legs frantically, wriggling as much as they could until they were suddenly jerked and turned about like some kind of rag doll. They really were powerless. Usually talking worked but it didn’t seem to have any effect at all!
They close one eyes as the light from the sudden screen caused them to try and tilt their head to view it and see exactly what was going on. What was all that? They had seen this kinda thing in Alphys’s lab? Was he studying them? That was so creepy!!!!
“H-Hey--!”
The small tugs on either side drew their gaze right back to the skeleton’s own, a look of dread clear on their disheveled face. Frisk felt their chest grow tight, their vain attempts at escape becoming more frantic before just ending up shouting.
“MOM! UNDYNE!!! SANS!!!!!”
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ As their body fell, he simply summoned a screen to input this valuable data. His first real encounter with a human! Very important. He almost seemed excited to make record of it – and then Frisk came back to life.
The screen disappeared as he gazed back at them, his grin faltering just the slightest bit at their apology.]
* .. I.. see.
* You are… that human.
[✱ His data on the child was limited; he hadn’t really bothered with the version of them that went through his native timeline. He had been more focused on Sans than anything else.
As he moved forward, another hand appeared, floating alongside the first before the two laced their fingers together.]
* How very… irksome.
Had that worked? They weren’t sure. They could barely make out the strange figure’s form in the blackness, let alone his face. Their eyes were unable to adjust properly as there was nothing but an unnatural fog. No hope of real light for what looked like infinity.
“I just...wanna go home....”
Frisk speaks calmly, ignoring the dulling pain and the ringing in their ears. It would pass, just like it had the last time they had to do this. It was hard to imagine it had been so long already and now was something entirely different. At least they could still reset if anything. They had their safety net still firmly within reach and that alone brought about the slightest twinge of comfort. Though the monster’s movements caused the child to cringe in fear of having another repetition of what had occurred mere moments prior.
“The ground started to fall apart and I fell in....”
They could just explain the situation. Maybe they could get home. Find out what was going on....oh no, they hoped Toriel was still alright....
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ Begging. That’s pretty… well, what he expected. Everyone always begged, he supposed humans were no different.
A vaguely amused huff escaped his ever-grinning mouth as the hand abruptly clenched into a fist around the child’s skull.]
[ C R U N C H ]
There was a long, drowning silence. A little glimmer and a soft crack of their SOUL as its pieces began to fall...
...only to draw right back together. Within an instant the SAVE file had been reached and with a sharp gasp Frisk shot up, any injuries or the complete destruction of their head becoming as though they had never occurred. The after affects, however, not so much.
There was a sharp aching and throbbing and like the child they were they held their head carefully in their hands, curling ever so slightly into themselves in an attempt to recuperate as quickly as they could. It hurt, maybe not as much as it could have, but it still hurt more than they could bare. With an unfocused gaze, they timidly turn their heads to peer upwards at the monster.
> ACT > APOLOGIZE
“I.......I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’m sorry.”
This hadn’t been a good place to SAVE and boy were they regretting that decision now.
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ That step back only made him tilt his head and lean in further. His expression did not change – but that white pupil faded from view, at least. Staring down at the human with hollow eyes, he gave another short ‘bibibi’ of a laugh.]
* You know…. I do not… really have a name that… suits me anymore.
* Perhaps you can… simply call me….
* Contempt.
[✱ A white hand materialized between them – bigger than Frisk’s head – and immediately grabbed onto the child’s face in a nearly painfully tight grip, the massive hole lining up perfectly to permit them to continue looking at him.]
* You are… not welcome here.
Hands are brought up close to their chest as the dark figure ducked nearer, the young child’s heart pounding in their chest from the sudden fright of being met with two hallow, gazeless eyes meeting their own.
“Ah--!”
They squirm at the sudden grasp, little hands attempting to pry and relieve the sudden pressure against their skull. Panic setting in as they didn’t have a chance to defend themselves or more importantly to simply dodge. This wasn’t like any other time they encountered a monster. Their voice comes out in a frightened squeak, normally calmly lidded eyes opening wide with a somewhat pleading expression.
“L-Let go...!!! Please.....!!!”
Something told them the usual magic word wouldn’t work as well here....
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ With the utmost slowness and continued silence, the figure came into view through the fog. He was much larger than the child in every way possible, glowing gaze still fixated on their face as he towered over them.]
[✱ He remained this way for an agonizingly long minute before he spoke, his tone smooth, yet holding a distinct tinge of annoyance.]
* … A… human.
* How very… interesting.
[✱ His voice became somewhat garbled as he let out what seemed to be a laugh.]
* ̡Bįbib͟i̵b̵ibi͟.̵
That strange laugh (they could only assume it was a laugh since squeaking didn’t seem to fit the situation) caused them to take the slightest step back, fists still clenched at their sides as though it would help at all with the large monster looming eerily over them.
“.........”
They don’t know what to say or whether asking would do much. Honestly, they had never seen such a scary thing. Not even all the monsters in the Underground were quite this intimidating except maybe Undyne though that was a long shot at this point.
“............Who are you.....”
It had come out meeker than they had intended.
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ As they approached, they would notice that the single glow was in fact four separate ones; squares of light rotating around a fixed point. However.. when the child spoke, they all abruptly disappeared, leaving only a small pinprick of light behind that seemed to pierce the human’s very SOUL. The fragment watched them closely, yet did not speak nor attempt to hide himself.
The silence was deafening.]
They stared through the darkness, focused on that one small bit of light that sent a chill up their spine. Fingers curled at their sides, body stiffening as they braved themselves swiftly against the unknown.
“Excuse me......”
Was spoken out in a soft tone. It was always a little difficult for Frisk to be forceful at all, whether it be in voice or action. Instinct told them, however, to SAVE in case of danger and the idea of remembering that one golden rule filled them with determination.
<Closed RP:// Code>
[✱ The fall lasted for what seemed like a full minute, before they abruptly hit the “ground”; the landing may have been sudden, but it was surprisingly painless, feeling more like they had simply been paused in mid-air.
Around them, there was.. nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not only were things pitch-black, an odd, dark fog hung in the air like thick smoke. It felt like this all went on for miles, perhaps infinitely.. but off in the distance, the slightest glow could be seen.]
Slowly, they pick themselves off from the seemingly non-existant ground. It was disorienting, at first, to place their hand down on a place their mind believed would just fall through and with a few wobbly steps they proceed towards the strange light. A way out maybe? Like a light at the end of a tunnel? Or maybe something less comforting.....maybe it was why they had fallen down the sudden chasm in their living room.///
“Hello....?”
They’re scared, sure, but this wasn’t far from the fear they had faced before. Just....emptier...lonelier.....but they stayed focused, determined, on catching where that light was coming from.
