𝑨ngel’s take on the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, Matthew Murdock (𝔇aredevil). I am currently rereading what I consider to be his essential comic arcs, [re:] Born Again (1987), The Man Without Fear (1993), and the 1998 run written by Joe Quesada. My portrayal will primarily draw inspiration from Daredevil’s 90s & 2000s run, as well as the world-building presented in the Netflix's adaptation. Although I am updated with the Born Again television series, I will not be incorporating elements from that adaptation.
My portrayal will rely heavily on 𝕮atholicism, its scriptures, traditions, and imagery, as this is central to Matt Murdock’s identity. I cannot guarantee that this blog will avoid potentially blasphemous exegesis; if such themes make you uncomfortable, I kindly advise against following. I am Catholic myself and have grown up around the faith, so I’m aware of the themes I’ll be dealing with.
Dark(-er) and potentially triggering content will also be present, as it is inherently tied to the nature of Daredevil. [ ... I am particularly interested in exploring these aspects within this blog!
I have written Matt Murdock in the past, and in a way, this blog serves as a 'reboot' of that portrayal. I am not fully up to date with the current 616 continuity and have primarily focused on Daredevil’s runs. As such, if you write Marvel characters I am unfamiliar with, I ask for your understanding, I am, admittedly, more of a DC reader.
Lastly, in true Angel fashion, my interpretation of Matthew Murdock is Filipino.
