Heyy it is great to see another blogger! !! Thanks for proposing doing imagines! I would like to request a devil may cry imagine Do you know that dante has depression (or ay least i think)on dmc 2?. I would like to see an angst about him losing his s/o,how he would react and how the others would try to confort him while also mourning about it. Yeah i am a sucker for angst. You can make the death tragic, the s/o being killed by demons ( even worse) other humans or both. I know you 'll surprise.ā”
Oh you know I love me some Angst. Thank you for Requesting! Enjoy some sad Dante. Also a quick thing. He looks EPIC in DMC5. He rockinā that beard extremely well. Also, I listened to total Result whilst writing this. The feels⦠Anyways enough of me rambling: Here you go! Sad Depressed Dante! (Also I went with Demons for extra Angst since his Mother was killed by Demons and all.)
A simple job. That was what this was supposed to be. Find Demons, kill the Demons, take you out on a date. Thatās all this night was supposed to be. It was so close as well to finishing, only a few demons were left and then get the money and he could finally take you out on the date he promised because despite what people thought, he saw how you were eyeing that one restaurant they sometimes pass by.
But that idea went to dust, almost like his heart, when he saw you get impaled by a demon. In fact, he could all but swear the fucking thing was taunting him as it threw you of its blade. He saw the demon approach, but he didnāt care. He only saw you fall to the ground, your weapon forgotten.
And it triggered something inside him. A memory
āDante! Run!ā His motherās voice echoed as he hid under the bed, back when he was a child.
And with a demonic roar, he lept at the Demon that dared harm you, easily ripping it to pieces.
He left the unrecognizable pieces of the Demon alone, instantly reverting back into his normal, human state. He all but collapsed beside you, only noticing that he didnāt just kill that one demon, but all the others that were left as well.
But he didnāt care. He only cared that you were in his arms⦠dying.
āDanteā¦ā You croaked. Danteās breathing quickened, and hope started to rise in him as he quickly picked you up. You were breathing; that meant you are alive. That meant that perhaps there is still time!
That hope began to wither when he felt your breathing start to slow. āDante⦠Is that you?ā You muttered.
āYes, (Y/N) Itās me. Love, please keep breathing.ā He begged. He started to feel you shivering, making his breathing quicken.
āDante⦠Iām starting to feel cold⦠And tiredā¦ā You whispered into his red jacket. By now he didnāt know if the red on his jacket was from the colour or your blood. Damn it all!
ā(Y/N)! DONāT SLEEP. PLEASE!ā He cried in pure agony and sadness. No, he already lost too much. His mother. His Brother. He couldnāt lose you⦠No, he just couldnāt. ā(Y/N) I⦠I love you, please. I canāt lose youā¦ā He idly noticed it started to rain, but if it was rain⦠why was he the only one getting rained on?
And then he realised it. They were tears. He felt you laugh softly into his chest, a sad, weak laugh.
āI love⦠you too Dante⦠Foreverā¦ā And then you stopped moving. Forever.
Dante let out a cry of despair.
āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā
The funeral was a short affair. You werenāt well known by any means, but surprisingly a good amount of people turned up, including Lady and Trish. Something that didnāt surprise him that much. You often talked of them fondly, and he knew they considered you family. He watched the funeral pass with blank eyes. The only thing that kept replaying in his head was your death. The demon stabbing you. Your last wordsā¦
There were so many what-ifs in his head. What if he just acted faster? If he was stronger? If he was more serious than he usually was.
Damn it⦠Damn it all. It was then that his brotherās words came back to him.
āFoolishness Dante, Foolishness. Might, controls. Everything. Without strength, you cannot protect anythingā¦ā
And he couldnāt. He couldnāt do it when he was a child and protect his mother. He couldnāt save his brother Vergil from falling to the Demon world, and now⦠he couldnāt protect you from one single Demon. How pathetic.
He didnāt notice the tears trailing down his face as you were put the rest. It was hard to watch in truth. His eyes were empty and hollow as he watched your coffin starting to slowly disappear. You shouldnāt be there. You should be there. With him, smiling and laughing, or anywhere but there.
He heard footsteps behind him and he turned to see Trish there.
Trish kept silent as she stood next to Dante quietly. No one spoke a word before Trish broke the silence
āHey, Dante?ā There wasnāt a response in words. Only the blank turning of his head towards her showed that she was heard. āDo you know why she started to learn how to hunt Demons with you?ā She asked
The slight narrowing of his eyes told her that he wasnāt happy that he had to speak, but she also saw curiosity. āNo⦠She only asked me to teach her. I⦠Agreedā¦ā And how foolish it was that he agreed. He shouldnāt have. Sure, you would have been slightly angry for a while, but you would have understood it eventually. And of course, if he didnāt, then you would still beā¦
Trish nodded in understanding āShe said she wanted to protect you, you know? She told me that you once came home really injured. She told me how scared she was for you. How disappointed she was in herselfā¦ā Dante clenched his fist. āDante⦠She wanted to protect you. Because she loved you.ā By now once again tears started to brim against Danteās eyes. Trish hesitated. But when she remembered you doing the same to her, she did it.
Dante froze up, before starting to cry softly.
āS-she didnāt deserve thisā¦ā He whispered
āShe didnāt⦠but sheās in a better place nowā¦ā She whispered to the Son of Sparda.
Dante knew that. But he also knew another thing.
He would never, ever, love someone as much as you again.
