To the TWST Fandom:

Please remember to be courteous and respectful to one another.

I realize that with the recent launch of TWST En, the size of the Twisted Wonderland fanbase has increased considerably. That’s great! That means more people to share our love of Twisted Wonderland with, right? The more, the merrier!

However, I’ve also noticed that this growth in the fandom has, sadly, led to a spike of rather unsavory behaviors toward others across various social media platforms. There are too many examples to feasibly name them all, but suffice to say that it has resulted in a lot of hurt feelings and even instances of harassment, whether directed to those in the fandom or those outside of it. I’ve seen these situations happen far too much (specifically on Twitter and Tumblr), seen too many of my friends leave because of bad experiences within the TWST fandom. It’s really disheartening to see, especially when this community is one that is so near and dear to my heart.

I’d like to really encourage everyone to curate their online fandom experiences and to be more mindful of one’s words and actions to avoid these kinds of altercations. If there’s content that makes you uncomfortable, block the tag, or block the person producing said content. If you read something that makes you upset, step away and take a breather instead of letting the anger do the talking; return when your mind is clear and keep in mind that whoever you’re responding to is also a person that deserves basic human decency. It’s perfectly okay to critique or to have a difference in opinion/thoughts, but be polite when you’re sharing that critique, opinion, or thought. Don’t attack people, don’t insult them, don’t speak on behalf of others.

No one else is responsible for monitoring what you say and do in this fandom but yourself, so please do it well. I understand it’s not realistic, nor feasible to entirely wipe out toxicity from such a large fandom, but we can all do our part to make it a more positive and welcoming space by being more cognizant and more mindful of what we do and say to each other.
