A little bit of Dex/Lardo that I wrote for DexRarepairWeek but never posted. Enjoy!

“There’s no way you need that color.”

Dex looks pointedly at the olive-green oil paint Lardo is currently squeezing onto her palette, standing out among the white, orange, and brown she’s been using so far.

“Excuse me?” Lardo caps off the tube of green and makes eye contact with him, raising one perfectly formed eyebrow. “When did you become an artist?”

“I don’t need to be an artist to know that I don’t have any green on my body right now,” Dex says, gesturing from the top of his head to his waist. “Black shirt, red hair, pale skin… Non-green eyes.”

“They’re amber, if you need a word,” Lardo says, dipping her paintbrush into a cup of water. “I’m using the green for shadows. I have an aesthetic for this series I have to keep up.”

Dex opens his mouth to argue but stops short when he sees Lardo scrutinizing his face. “What?”

“You moved, Dex,” she says, standing up and stretching her arms. “Turn to where you were looking before.”

He does so as she gently steps around the supplies scattered about, settling his eyes on the poster by the hallway door. It’s an O’Keeffe painting, he remembers Lardo telling him.

“Your freckles are gonna be hell.” She grips Dex’s chin with a small, firm hand and brings her nose inches from his cheek, exhaling gently. “I might actually need some black. They’re darker than I thought.”

Dex feels his cheeks warm as Lardo circles around to the opposite side of his face, staying just as close as before as she moves. “Yeah, I’ll need black.”

She finally steps back and Dex wills his skin to cool down before she notices how red his cheeks and ears are. He doesn’t take his eyes from the poster.

“I’ll need some pink too if you don’t calm down, Dex,” Lardo says, settling back into the hole she carved for herself among tubes of oil paint and a small canvas propped against a couple of empty wine bottles.

Dex spares a glance to see her smirk at him, picking up her paintbrush once more. She looks back up at him and her smile gets wider. Dex’s lips curl upwards and his cheeks heat up even more.

“Then again,” she muses, mixing some of the olive-green paint into the orange. “A blush is always good for visual interest.”

She winks and Dex looks back at the poster, cheeks burning.

Day 6: Dex and Ford

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Ford’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Ford: Disneyland au

Disney college program

Dex has always dreamed of working for Disney, and when he got into the Disney college program he nearly cried from how happy he was

He had the choice between Disneyworld in Florida or Disneyland in California…CALIFORNIA HERE I COME!!!

The day he arrives at the college program housing, he meets Ford

Their roles

Dex kind of wanted to be a character, but he also wasn’t sure he was up for that kind of a challenge

Instead, he has always enjoyed photography and is very happy being a PhotoPass photographer in the parks

Ford was too short to be considered for Princess Tiana, but she’s just perfect to be Iridessa over in Pixie Hollow

Dex is assigned to take photos at Pixie Hollow of guests with Tinkerbell and her friends, which obviously includes Iridessa

He cannot believe he is actually getting paid to take pictures of Ford interacting with guests…it’s just incredible!! He gets to take photos, meet tons of new people, hang out with Ford at work…ALL WHILE GETTING PAID!!!

Parades

Seeing as Ford makes a great Iridessa, she also participates in the parades…because let’s face it, Tinkerbell is in every parade and they need her friends to be in front of the float

Dex gets to walk around with special remembrance photo moment cutout sign things and get guests to pose with them while he takes pictures

He also gets to take pictures of the parades and all the guests watching in amazement

Ford and Dex always share a good luck kiss before the start of each parade, because they both need it for luck and to keep them grounded until the parade is over

Park dates

On their days off, they can still be at the park together

They walk around, holding hands, quick soft kisses, smiles a mile wide, and couldn’t be happier

They have a system in the morning on which rides they do, and they call it their “usual”…also during this time, one of them stands in line for breakfast while the other goes and gets their first FastPasses of the day

They totally believe in sharing lunches and snacks…that way they can get more lunches and snacks!!! They have first lunch and second lunch where they basically get one meal and then split it…this allows them to get at more places and try more things

Photo opportunities

Dex’s job is being a photographer…so there definitely will be plenty of pictures of these two!!! Thank you very much!!!

They always have to pose cutely in front of the castle, it’s a must for them

They go to other character meet and greets, and take photos with those characters

They take candid action photos of each other all day long

The cameras do the best they can to capture just how adorable these two really are

Day 6: Dex and Harper

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Harper’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Harper: Disney fairies au

Talents

Dex is a warm season fairy and he is clearly a tinker-talent fairy…NOPE!!! He’s actually an animal-talent fairy!!

Harper is a winter fairy and she is a frost-talent fairy…NOPE!!! She’s also a winter animal-talent fairy

They look after the animals in Pixie Hollow and train animals to help them bring in the new seasons on the Main Land

They both really love animals and couldn’t be happier with their talents…

Meeting

Dex was helping the animals cross over the border from winter after hibernation was over

Harper was gathering up animals around winter to get ready to cross back over

There was a runaway bunny that was so excited for the warm weather again…and so they may have plowed over Dex

Harper had been chasing after the bunny and seen the whole event unfold before her very eyes

When Dex wasn’t getting up, she chucked a snowball at him, hoping that would wake him up…and it did, so yay!!!

Lets just say there was a lot of confusion and sputtering coming from Dex, and plenty of laughter coming from Harper

And for this all, a friendship began

Forbidden love

Well Dex is a warm fairy and Harper is a winter fairy…they can’t exactly cross the border without doing some serious damage to their wings

Dex’s wings would freeze and break if he went into winter, while Harper’s wings would become too warm and break if she went into the warmer seasons

So they had to meet each other at the border between seasons and stay on their respective sides in order not to do any harm

Border dates

They meet at the border more and more frequently, just to see each other and see how they’re doing

They even set up dates to have together, usually in the form of picnics

They lay a large leafy blanket onto the log where the border is, Dex sitting on one side and Harper on the other

They take turns preparing lunches for each other…sometimes Dex makes the lunch, other times Harper makes the lunch, and sometimes they both bring food they want the other to try and share food that way

Crossing the border

After the whole debacle of Tinkerbell and Periwinkle finding out they were sisters and everything that eventually happened, Dex and Harper become more hopeful about their own relationship

Dex wears a jacket into winter, but cannot fly when he does that…or he’ll wear a jacket but also have his wings frosted

Harper crosses over into the warm seasons, but only when Dex can arrange for the snow machine to follow her around and keep her cold

Sure, it’s difficult but they do make it work

Day 6: Dex, Jenny, and Mandy

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex, Mandy, and Jenny’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex, Jenny, and Mandy: a soulmate au

Some background to set the mood, *flashback music plays*:

Hollywood, 1939. Amidst the glitz and glitter of a bustling young movie town at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all of that…

Wait…that’s NOT right!! That’s not THIS story!! THAT’S Tower of Terror!! Then again…maybe another time…*ideas formulating*

Onward to the actual soulmate au…

Dex’s life and death

The year is 1947, 2 years after World War II ended and he survived being a medic on the front lines

He is trying to restart a more normal life and is working as a librarian at Samwell University

True, for this time period, being a librarian is considered “woman’s work,” but after the war he just wants something that’s quiet and surround himself with things that can’t physically hurt him (aside from the occasional paper cut)

He was able to purchase a cute little house near campus with his G.I. Bill, so he can easily walk to work every day…oh how he loves his house…

He has always been confused about his soul mark, because it’s always been incredibly faint, like a light grey when soul marks are typically black

When the war happened, it got him wondering if his mark was faint because this whole time it meant that he had a soulmate out there but he or they were going to die before they ever met

Upon dying, he realizes that his soul mark, an open heart that looks like it was formed by string, darkened a bit

How could this be possible?? He’s dead, a ghost, still wandering about his house and the campus…so why would his soul mark darken a bit now, of all times?? Wasn’t he supposed to find his soulmate while he was alive?? None of this makes sense!!

Mandy and Jenny’s lives and deaths

They met in high school in 1989 and were fast to become the bestest of friends

They did just about everything together and were always glued at the hip; people eventually said “Mandy and Jenny/Jenny and Mandy” as though it was one word

The icing on the cake was the day that they realize that they both had the same string open heart soul mark, even if it was technically grey in color

They realize that with high school ending and them both wanting to go to college, they couldn’t really stand to be separated from one another…so they decided to apply to and attend the same college…COLLEGE ADVENTURES WITH YOUR SOULMATE!!! YAY!!

So they attend Samwell University, rush as sisters for the Theta Alpha Theta Sorority, and move into the sorority house

All was going great until that rush incident in 1993 killed them…

However, upon dying, their soul marks darken to what a soul mark should have been from the very beginning…WHAT IS HAPPENING!?!?!?!

The Haus

Dex’s house near campus sat on the housing market for a very long time, until people eventually gave up and left it abandoned

Poor Dex saw his first, and only, home he’s ever bought begin to crumble before his eyes and there’s nothing he could really do about it with him being a ghost

Eventually, they tear down his house to expand parts of the campus and the surrounding area

His house eventually becomes the Theta Alpha Theta Sorority house, which Mandy and Jenny move into until they both die, and then becomes the Haus for the Samwell Men’s Hockey Team

All 3 have the same soul mark which darken to a “normal” soul mark color upon dying, lived in the same house at the time of their deaths, and are now ghosts in order to have met one another without realizing why any of this has happened

When Mandy and Jenny die and become ghosts, Dex is actually very confused to see them there still in the Haus…or as it will always be known to him, his house

However, there’s no hiding soul marks right there on your arms when you’re dead and have nothing to cover them up with

Still, none of this had to have happened by coincidence…they were destined to be soulmates, right?? The marks, the house, everything else in between?? Right?? Right!!

Hauntings

Soulmates that haunt together, stay together…they don’t make the rules, that is just the way things are!!

They enjoy playing little pranks on the inhabitants of the Haus, because come on why not have some fun with it all??

Mandy and Jenny enjoy touching Ransom’s butt when he moves into the Haus, and Dex just rolls his eyes…until they recommend he join in on the fun, because Ransom has a terrific butt!!

They play music to pass the time, and as a bonus it freaks out anyone living in the Haus…”WHERE IS THAT MUSIC COMING FROM!?!?!?!”

Someone once watched Bettlejuice, and they decided to chill out and watch it too…they got so many good ideas on how to haunt the Haus inhabitants!!!

One of their favorite past times is to move things over by just an inch or so…it’s surprising what a difference that makes, because people swear that the chair moved and caused them to fall to the floor, or the remote wasn’t there a moment ago, and so on and so forth

Eternity together

They are disgustingly cute together, especially considering they have all of eternity together

True, it takes some time for Dex to get to know them and vice versa, but it’s actually easier than they all thought it would be

The universe was smart to put them all together, because they all just click and it feels right…like it was meant to be

They don’t technically have to sleep, but they all try to cuddle up together anyways just for the sake of trying

They give each other random little kisses throughout the day, just because they know they can

They leave the Haus together and roam about campus…consider it the equivalent of taking a stroll and sightseeing

They have nothing to hide, so they’re very open and honest about everything from their past, their current present, and what they want from their future together

They are sickly domestic and happy together, and the best part is that they have all of eternity to be with their soulmates

Day 6: Dex and Camilla

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Camilla’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Camilla: Roaring 20s au

Meeting

They met at school, in 1910, when they were about 10 years old and become best friends…a friendship that lasted for many years

Dex had just moved to the area and he looked like a scared little rabbit that very first day at school, so Camilla reached out to him to make him feel welcomed at their school

Camilla liked how fast Dex could run, now she had a worthy opponent to play tag with during recess

As they grew up, they confide in each other about their crushes…they help each other where they can, and are always there to lend a shoulder to cry on when things don’t work out

Eventually, as the years tick on, they realize they have feelings for each other…cue some mutual pining until they finally get their act together and actually get together

Life after school

After, fortunately, attending and finishing high school together…they get married

They were friends for 6 years and dated for 2 years, it just seemed like the next step for them

They did have a year long engagement, just to get themselves figured out and plan out their future

They have their first two daughters, twins, a year after they get married…

When the 19th Amendment passes (women’s right to vote), their little family throws a party…pretty hair bows and dresses for their daughters, Camilla puts on her nicest dress, Dex puts on his best suit, and they all have a nice dinner finished off with cake

Speakeasy

Some time after the 18th Amendment passed (Prohibition), Dex and Camilla start toying with the idea of opening a speakeasy

They have the business sense to know what they should be doing, and the have the basement space available underneath their cafe

So this is how they start out running a speakeasy together…they are a partnership, a package deal, 2 for the price of 1…

Cafe business during the day is great, business at the speakeasy during the night is great, life together is so much better than they could have ever even imagined

Imagine: Camilla in a black, sequined, calf length, evening dress and Dex in a 3 piece suit; both of them sipping on cocktails made with vermouth out of coupe glasses, giving each other little glances throughout the night and smiling to themselves

Jazz

Sometimes they close up to cafe for the day, have one of their mom’s watch the girls, and go out for a date night

One of their favorite things to do is to head on over to a jazz club

The sound of jazz music filling the club, seeing different performers, dancing, drinking, having a grand time…it’s perfect

In their opinion, there’s nothing better than having a great night out together…going to the jazz club together is a great option for them to just relax and have fun

Imagine: Camilla in a light blue, beaded, ankle length, evening cocktail dress and Dex in a tuxedo; out on the dance floor or sitting at a small table sipping their cocktails

Marathon dancing

They LOVE dancing!! Seriously…THEY LOVE DANCING!!!

Dance marathons were practically made for them so they could participate; winning prizes is just the added bonus on top

They have entered 5 dance marathons, and have won once…there’s just so many good dancers and some of them have such great stamina, sometimes they just can’t dance anymore and have to drop out

The longest they’ve ever danced, and obviously won, was for a dance marathon that went for 7 days

They were obviously exhausted by the end of it and their legs hurt them too much to do much walking for a few days

They definitely had to take it easy around the house and cafe with their girls until their legs felt better

Day 6: Dex and Lardo

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Lardo’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Lardo: home renovation show au

No seriously, I’ve been watching a lot of Fixer Upper lately…Chip and Joanna Gaines are adorable, and I can see the same thing for Dex and Lardo.

Onward to the actual au here…

Design vs. muscle

Lardo is in charge, she says what needs to get done and Dex just does it…there’s no need to ever doubt what Lardo has in mind

She designs everything and always has these amazing ideas for how everything will turn out

Dex is the muscle of the group, give him a hammer and a saw, he’ll get right on removing that wall this very moment

Demo time is his favorite time, because it’s an excuse to just rip everything out and destroy things

They definitely need each other though, because Dex needs Lardo’s designs and Lardo needs Dex to follow through with bringing these designs to life…they so need each other, a whole bunch and they love it

Opinions and arguments

“What were you thinking bringing them to this house?!?! It should be burned down more than anything!!” “Hush up, it’s got tons of potential and can be a really cute house!!”

These two are bursting with opinions on what should be done and how it should be done…they definitely express these opinions to each other

A lot of the time, it seems to come off as them fighting…but they really aren’t fighting and completely understand where the other is coming from

They take advantage of these playful arguments and it gives them an opportunity to just be complete dorks about the whole thing

Honestly, they are too damn cute for their own good…like they need to stop it, they’ve already lost 5 camera people because they went blind from the sheer amount of cute

Trading knowledge

Lardo has all the skill to design what she wants, but Dex helps her with the computer aspects of making her designs virtual at the very beginning

He created a program just for her to use and teaches her how to use it, and so she ends up using it for every single house design project she is given

Dex seems to lack a bit of the creative vision needed to design everything, but Lardo helps him by providing sketches and explaining her thoughts as clearly as she can

She definitely teaches him some of the finer points of design, and he has actually been able to use what she has taught him over time to add in his own possible suggestions for what can be done to a house

House ideas

These two are filled with ideas for what can be done to a house…each room can be done a variety of ways

They usually pick what they think would be best and present that option to the buyers, mostly just to not completely overwhelm them and send them running for the hills

However, they also are constantly looking at other houses for inspiration on what they can do to their own house

Their house has been growing and changing for 2 years now, and they don’t know if or when they will ever finish

Additionally, they love showing clients their house in order to give the clients a feel for what can be done to their fixer upper

What’s really nice though is they provide their viewers with tips and trips for what they can do to their own homes that won’t break their banks

Personal life

They have their own realtor company, and thus what they use to get clients for their show

They constantly chirp each other and tell really cheesy jokes, because what is life without laughter??

They have 3 fantastic daughters, who usually can be found helping where they can during the staging at the end of the project

They live on a good amount of land, so they have room for all the animals they have…a bunch of cats, a few dogs, some cows, a couple horses, a llama, a family of ducks on their pond, and they just seem to be adding more and more

Dex and Lardo are just giant goofballs…like these dorks deserve each other, with their clever chirps, their overwhelming attractiveness, and their ability to just be so damn adorable together

Day 6: Dex and Caitlin

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Caitlin Farmer’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Caitlin: Olympics au

Olympic Village

Team USA sends 500+ athletes to the summer Olympics every 4 years to compete, Dex and Caitlin happen to be among those athletes

They meet in the Olympic Village, just walking about trying to get a feel for the place and learn the layout of everything

Before they know it, they’re exchanging phone numbers and walking out for the Opening Ceremony together

This is real, they are actually there, and about to compete in the Olympics…THE OLYMPICS!!!!! Dreams are hopefully about to come true for them…

Beach volleyball vs. volleyball

Guess who plays what!! Naw, you’ll never guess…

Caitlin plays beach volleyball and Dex plays indoor volleyball…WRONG!!!! It’s actually the opposite, Dex plays beach volleyball and Caitlin plays indoor volleyball

Shoot, Caitlin is so good that she’s the USA team captain!!!! She so badly wants to take her team to gold this year!! LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Dex and his beach volleyball partner have an impressive game history, think Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings…but instead it’s Dex and his partner…ok, so they aren’t AS great, because nobody can be as great as Misty and Kerri!! BUT STILL!!!

Dex and Caitlin both understand volleyball and their love for it, and they also try to sell why their version is better…in the end, they agree that volleyball is great no matter where it’s played

Watching events

They try to watch each others’ matches if they have the time, because what is not to love about some extra support?!?!?!?!

Dex loves watching Caitlin telling her team what to do and encouraging them to keep playing awesome…she’s such a great team captain…*heart eyes*

Caitlin loves watching Dex play and seeing the sand going everywhere when he dives for the ball…the tank top and board shorts are a lovely bonus…*heart eyes*

When they have free time, they even enjoy seeing other events together…THEY ARE AT THE OLYMPICS!!! THEY ARE GOING TO WATCH OTHER PEOPLE COMPETE!!!

They enjoy watching the swimming, diving, archery, table tennis, and so much more…there’s so many cool things to watch and there’s so many great athletes competing, it’s truly amazing to be there and see as much as they can

Sightseeing

After all is said and done, and they have down time, they do decide to go sightseeing together…they are in a different country, competing at the Olympics, they are going to take it all in!!!

They are such goofs, and they try to take as many silly pictures of each other as they can

They also have a very good amount of photos they’ve taken together in front of different landmarks

They make it a point to try and see all of the historical sights, because it’s just fascinating and a must see

They do make it a point to try the local cuisine as much as they can, and grab lunch or dinner together…food heaven, that’s what this is

Don’t put it past them to have gone out one night, or maybe a good handful of times…they wanted to find a place where they could dance and maybe drink a bit

Olympic medals

The big question…do either of them medal?!?!?! DUN DUN DUN!!!

The answer: yes

Caitlin leads her team all the way to gold!!! Like holy hot damn!!! You go girls!!! WOOOOO!!!!

Dex was there for that game, and screamed so loud when the match ended and the USA girls had won

He also sees the team receive their medals, and it’s just so damn beautiful!!! *proud teary eyes*

Dex and his partner weren’t as lucky, because in the final game for gold and silver, they just couldn’t scrape ahead to where they needed to be…

The other team was incredibly good, and Dex can see that objectively…that still doesn’t take the sting out of not getting gold when he was so close to it…

But hey, at least he and his partner got silver…they got a medal, they played the best they could, and they feel they did a good job

Maybe he’ll just have to try again in 4 years?? Maybe…

Caitlin and him take celebratory pictures with their medals together…they may or may not be kissing while holding up their medals in said pictures… *heart eyes*

Day 7: Dex and Wicks

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Wicks’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Wicks: medical au

College

So these two meet in college…they are both biology majors who are pre-med

Wicks spent his first year taking mostly general education requirement and prerequisite classes, and was also unhappy with his original major…this set him back a whole year, the poor thing

Dex took a mix of classes so that’s how he’s able to take his major classes with Wicks at the same time

Seeing as they are the same major and continue taking classes together, a pleasant relationship begins to unfold in front of them

They take and exchange notes, they study together, they help each other…they lean on and support one another

Medical school

They apply to the same med schools together and wait anxiously to see which ones they get accepted into

During said wait, there was plenty of doubts, fears, and tears…”What if I’m just not good enough??” “You’re not good enough?!?!?! Shoot, what if no school accepts me??”

Fast forward a bit, and they do get rejected from a few med schools…but they also do get accepted into the same ones as well

So they graduate college and head on off to medical school!!!

Medical school is different, to say the least…but their support for each other has not changed at all

Hospital

Upon completing med school, they both complete their residency at the same hospital

Dex wants to be a pediatrician and Wicks wants to be an oncologist

Their lunch times usually match up, so they can typically be found having lunch together at a table just for the both of them

They’re usually very busy and don’t get to see each other often, but they really do try to take advantage of every second they do get to spend together

Peace Corps

Despite everything, they do take some time for themselves to join the Peace Corps

They sign up as volunteers for health and safety

They enjoy providing health services to the local people they are visiting and to other Peace Corps volunteers

It rewarding to be able to help other people where they can, but not without its downfalls too

Their time in the Peace Corps is definitely an experience they hope to remember forever, and maybe volunteer again when they are older and looking closer to retirement

Doctors Without Borders

While they enjoyed their time in the Peace Corps, they were limited with the amount of medical services they could really provide other people worldwide

They decide that if they really wanted to make any form of difference, they should join Doctors Without Borders

Being a doctor and making boat loads of money is nice…but actually being able to help others in need is what they originally wanted from the very beginning, besides they have plenty of time in their lives to try and make money later

They feel like they are actually making a difference and truly helping provide medical services to those who need it

Dex and Wicks are glad they get to share all of these experiences together and that they’ve had each other to rely on throughout their entire lives journeys

Day 7: Dex and Ollie

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Ollie’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Ollie: teacher au

Their school

They are both 2nd grade teachers at an elementary school, and are lucky to even be teaching at the same school

It’s in a nice area, but there’s still agricultural areas around them so it’s not an overly snobby school despite the school district it is a part of

They live 10 minutes away from the school, and they obviously carpool…why drive separately when they’re going to the same place?? The only time they drive separately is if they have A LOT of stuff they need to take to their classrooms, and that’s about it

Lunch dates

Since they both teach the same grade, they have the same break times

They stop by each others rooms during recess and check in to see how their morning is going so far

Then for lunch, they meet up at the flower planter at the front of the school and go home to eat…the conveniences of living close-ish by to the school

Some days they’ll go out to lunch, and they usually end up at their favorite little sandwich shop

On days when they need to stay on campus for an extended list of reasons, they’ll wake up just a little bit earlier to pack their lunches…and they’ll still try to find a way to eat lunch together

Classroom prep

The beauties of teaching the same grade is they can get their whole grade level on the same page, and if no one else is going to participate then at least they have each other

They help plan what they should be teaching for each subject and when, and search for good projects to do for different lessons with their kiddos

At the beginning of the school year, they help each other decorate their classrooms…their rooms look fantastic and they are practical too

They love switching out their bulletin boards to showcase their students’ work, so having someone else to help them after school really helps…damn they are good at helping each other

They usually stay a bit late on Fridays or go in early on Mondays to prepare all the materials they’ll need for the week, that way it helps cut out any down time in their days and they can provide their students with easier transitions from lesson to lesson by having everything already prepared

Joint classroom activities

As a school-wide thing, each grade level has PE together…so all of the 2nd graders do PE together

Sometimes their grade level likes to get together to do fun activities for their students

They like to have game days every now and again where they set up different game/activity stations outside and have students rotate to them

They also enjoy doing lesson rotations, where they have their students rotate from one classroom to the next…in one room Mr. Poindexter has his cool math lesson, in another room Mr. O’Meara has an awesome social studies lesson, then in another room Mrs. Baxter has a nifty science lesson, and in another room Mrs. Lee has a very interesting English lesson

Field trips

What’s not to love about field trips?? I mean, besides the obvious stress of making sure a bunch of children don’t get hurt or lost or anything else horrible happen to them??

They also try to plan their week accordingly depending on the field trip, because after a field trip the kids are usually tired and they end up having a movie day when they get back to school…so it’s definitely not wise to plan for a math test the next day and not give them any in class review time, because that’s just not fair

They plan out all of their field trip groups and chaperons a few days before the actual trip, that way when they get there they can just hand kids over to the appropriate adults and be on their merry way

They actually always try to arrange it so that none of the 2nd grade teachers are actually chaperoning anyone, that way they can all hang out together…YAY!!

Day 7: Dex and Kent

These are some headcanons I came up with for Dex and Kent Parson’s relationship, so I hope you enjoy them.

Dex and Parse: Tower of Terror au

So ever since I added that snippet from Tower of Terror onto the Dex/Mandy/Jenny soulmate au (I wrote that one first the day I started feeling better and it sat in my drafts untouched since), I’ve been thinking about Tower of Terror a lot. I have no idea, even as I’m writing this, how such an au would work out…but I really wanted it to be a thing, so yeah.

Onward and yonward to the actual au…

Newspaper

Dex worked for the LA Tribune with Kent, and they had both a professional and personal relationship

They were very good about keeping business to business and personal to personal…everyone knew they were a couple, even the HR department seeing as Kent and Dex informed them

Everything seemed to be going well in their lives, work was good, their time together was great, and just things didn’t seem like they could go wrong

However, Dex was always trying to look for that next big story and work his way up the corporate ladder

This is what caused him to take a few more risks than he ever would even consider, and ultimately led to him printing a huge breaking story that turned out to be completely fake

Dex was immediately let go from the paper, and Kent obviously stayed at the paper as there was no point in him losing his job too

Falling out

Dex was heartbroken at being let go from the paper, but he also understood why they did what they did…that didn’t really stop it from hurting though

He was supportive of Kent staying at the paper, because Kent really was a great reporter and there really honestly was no reason for him to lose his job too, especially seeing as he wasn’t involved in any of it

However, what really hurt was the promotion Kent received soon afterwards

That was what Dex had dreamed of doing and he grew a bit jealous of Kent

Instead of talking about things and working through it, they ended up having a really big fight one night…and unfortunately, it left them both unsure and too scared to ask what it meant for their relationship

The Hollywood Tower Hotel

Fast forward a few years, Dex and Kent are no longer a couple

Dex is now writing for a tabloid paper that prints stories about ghosts, alien encounters, cryptid sightings, and so forth…not exactly what he went to school to write about, nor what he had planned for his life, but at least it is a writing job for now

An old lady approaches him based upon the work he is currently writing, and asks him to find out what happened back on Halloween at the Hollywood Tower Hotel back in 1939…it has been something that has been haunting her since it happened, especially seeing as how she was there that night

So Dex go to the hotel with the full intention of just possibly exploiting some “ghosts” for monetary gain and then going back about his business

Unfortunately, the ghosts happen to be real and they desperately need his help…they originally tried scaring him off, and it almost worked but he eventually stuck around

Now he’s on a quest to figure out what happened so he can actually help them

The spell

He was able to find the spell book that the old lady mentioned down in the boiler room of the hotel, and holy hot damn was that creepy!!!

Either way, he has the book and has been studying it meticulously…”What does it mean that “a spell of passion can only be countered by its contrary??” Why can’t they write these things in simple plain language?!?!?!?!?! Gah!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?!?!?!?!?!”

After talking to the ghosts some more, he finds out that the old lady is actually Sally Shine’s sister, Abigail…and it wasn’t Sally Shine’s nanny that had cast the spell…so what really happened?? Why were they all only “half zapped” and now ghosts at the hotel, instead of burning in the underworld like the spell had promised??

Figuring out what really happened

Well it turned out, Abigail had cast the spell but she never took into consideration the other occupants on the elevator

Dex is so excited that he has a legitimate story and contacts Kent at the Tribune to cover it…and maybe hopefully get his job back??

Kent thinks Dex has maybe finally gone off the deep end, and comes over to see what is going on…

Cue them rushing over to the Hollywood Tower Hotel to help the ghosts fix the elevator and finally make it to the party at the Tip Top Club on the top floor

Only this time, Kent accidentally gets on the elevator instead of Sally Shine!!! DUN DUN DUN!!!

Dex has to get Sally and Abigail to talk to each other, and hopefully find a way to break the spell so that Kent doesn’t DIE!!!

It turned out that all along, the party was for Abigail’s birthday…Abigail was wrong about her own sister, and if anything she hurt the one person who maybe cared about her the most

They are able to work things out at the last very possible second, and despite both the elevator and the service elevator plummeting downwards, they end up not crashing when they reach the bottom

THE SPELL HAS BEEN BROKEN!!!!

They all finally make it up to the top floor for the party, the ghosts are finally all able to pass on, and Kent and Dex get back together

It took almost dying for them to get their act together and realize they belong with each other

It’s one of those rare afternoons off that finds Dex playing Overwatch with Nursey. Remotely of course, because Nursey was down in New York procrastinating on editing an manuscript. Kent all but throws the front door open, unceremoniously dumps the groceries in front of the fridge, and drops his phone into Dex’s lap. He collapses into the armchair to the right of the couch, scrubbing his face harshly. 

“Hi to you too,” Dex chirps. 

“Not in the mood, William,” Kent groans. 

Kent never calls him by his first name. It’s enough to get him to pause the game and mumble a “be right back” to Nursey. 

“Why do I have your phone?”

“Because people are assholes,” Kent says. 

Dex eyes him warily. He unlocks the phone, which is already open to Twitter. There’s a massive thread about hockey players coming out because they’re not man enough to get a real woman. 

“Sorry, what did you do?”

“Almost came out on Twitter just to say— y’know—fuck you. I’d love to know what your definition of ‘real woman’ is, you fucking transphobe.” 

“But you didn’t?” Dex asks slowly. 

“Nope,” Kent says with an emphasis on the p. “Did not, in fact, out myself today out of spite.” 

“That’s good.” He nods. 

Kent snorts, throwing his arms over his face. Dex reads through the thread again. Both thankful that Kent didn’t do anything to put himself in danger, and pissed that he even had to look it in the first place. 

“So what’s the problem?” he asks after Kent’s had some time to calm down. 

“I don’t know.” Kent sighs. “My first instinct was to cause a shit storm. And I didn’t —yay? But it was still there, that fucking knee-jerk reaction to start a fight before they get me.”

“Who’s they?” 

Kent waves him off. “I’ve been fighting for a long time… and it’s turned me into.. this.” He gestures vaguely to himself. “This— neurotic mess, who’s always on edge. You know I almost kicked some people out yesterday because they wouldn’t stop asking why the bathroom signs are so weird?”

Bitty and Kent had special ordered some bathroom signs with mythical creatures on them that said “whatever, just wash your hands.” 

Dex shrugs, offering a hug that Kent quickly gets up to accept. He’s sitting in Dex’s lap, clinging in every way imaginable. It’s nice, Dex thinks as he squeezes back. Maybe he can’t fight Kent’s battles for him (Kent would hate that anyway). But if he could be there at the end of the day to make things a little better, it was worth it. 

“You’re allowed to refuse service to anyone,” Dex mutters. “You can block people on Twitter. I know it sucks sometimes, and you can come out whenever you  want—”  

“But…” Kent prompts. 

“But maybe you aren’t ready,” Dex supplies. “Maybe you don’t ever have to be ready. It’s not about them, it’s about you being yourself. Fuck the rest of the world, they don’t deserve you.” 

Kent chuckles, leaning back to kiss Dex on the cheek. “Maybe you’re right. Thanks, baby.” 

Dex feels his lip twitch softly. “Anything for you.”

Bitty gets a text from Jack after class on a Friday in September.  

Dex called. I’ll be up soon. 

Bitty doesn’t understand, until he remembers that Dex’s parents were visiting for the weekend. He wasn’t sure exactly what happened, but he could feel his blood boiling as his heart drops. 

He dials Jack quickly. 

“Bits—“

“Is he ok?” Bitty interrupts. 

“I don’t know,” Jack admits. “He’s in the Haus. He said his parents left.” 

“I’ll have to call you back, love you.” He doesn’t wait for Jack’s response. He hangs up and sprints toward the Haus. 

Bitty doesn’t have time to think about what could’ve happened. All he knows is  that Dex was planning on coming out to his parents. That is enough to set him on edge, no matter how well (non-violently) it might’ve went. 

He finds Dex sitting in the kitchen. Dex is staring motionless at his clasped hands on the table. He doesn’t move when he hears Bitty enter the room. He doesn’t say anything when Bitty asks if he’s ok. His motions are mechanical and stiff as Bitty pulls him upstairs. 

Bitty drags Dex into his room because he knows Nursey will ask questions that Dex won’t be ready to answer. He arranges Dex so he’s leaning against Bitty’s shoulder while they sit on the bed. Dex nuzzles his face in the crook of Bitty’s neck. 

He doesn’t ask Dex what’s wrong. Bitty just holds him. Jack will be there soon. Then they can talk it out. What happened, what their options are, if they need to make different arrangements for the holidays. In the meantime, Dex needs him to be strong. 

“You can cry if you need to,” he murmurs as he rubs Dex’s back. “I’m right here. You’re safe with me.” 

So he does. They both do.

Chris finds him in the basement on a Tuesday afternoon in November. He’s sitting on the concrete floor, staring at this legs. Dex is shaking like a leaf. 

“Babe, are you ok?” Chris murmurs. 

Dex doesn’t answer. He shakes his head the slightest amount. 

Chris sits next to him. “Wanna talk about it?” 

Dex shakes his head. 

“Can you breathe in for me? Slowly, c’mon,” he instructs. 

Dex complies. Following Chris’ instructions, in and out, until his breath is a little steadier. Until Dex’s eyes are a little more focused. Dex’s  arms wind their way around Chris’ torso. Chris squeezes back with everything he’s got. 

“You can cry if you need to,” he whispers. “I’m right here. You’re safe with me.” 

Dex flinches. He just holds Chris for a while. Eventually, Farmer’s voice comes shouting from the top of the stairs. 

“We’re down here,” Chris shouts. He instantly regrets it when Dex flinches. 

Farmer comes cautiously down the staircase, Nursey following close behind her. They don’t ask questions. Farmer settles down on the other side of Dex. Nursey sits beside Chris. 

“You’re alright,” Dex chokes back a sob. “You’re alright.” 

“We’re right here, babe,” Farmer assures him softly. 

“Yea, we got you,” Nursey adds. 

Dex nods, tears running down his face. They hold him, because that’s all they can do. 

“I’m sorry,” he says once he has enough composure to be lead back up to their rooms. 

“It’s ok, Dex,” Chris assures him. “Happy birthday.”

Lardo is up groaning into her to go mug. It’s seven am and they still have another three hours until Vegas. She regrets taking shifts to drive. Regardless, she’s up; her coffee and Brendon Urie are the only things keeping her sane. She takes another long sip of her drink. 

“Stop slurping,” Dex mumbles. “You’re louder than a lawnmower.” 

“I didn’t know lawnmowers like cappuccinos,” she chirps. 

 “Oh fuck you,” Dex says. 

His face remindes her of a cat. The thought amuses Lardo so much that her laughter devolves into a snort. 

Dex rolls his eyes as he turns to face to the window. 

“C’mon, Dex.” She jostles his shoulder lightly. “You love me, and you know it.” 

“That’s not the point,” he argues. Although, she can totally see the amused quirk of his lip via his reflection in the window. “I’m trying to sleep.” 

“You’re doing a piss job of it,” she says. 

Dex ignores her. They ride in near silence for another forty two miles until Lardo stops to get gas. Dex gets up to use the restroom. He comes back to grab their mugs, and then comes back with snacks and fresh coffee. 

“Fine, I love you,” he grumbles with a blush. 

Lardo preens, leaning over the console to peck his nose. “Good.”

Dex snorts. “Good,” he parrots. “Is that all?” 

“No,” Lardo admits. “I love you too. You’re a bitch, but you’re my bitch.”  

He blushes. Lardo takes that as a victory.

Dex Holster anything i mean but if i can be specific maybe date night ?

“Holster, stop,” Dex protests. 

“No,” he huffs. 

When Holster decided to take them mini golfing, Dex had some reservations. First of all, Holster’s super competitive. Second, Dex hasn’t been mini-golfing since he was nine. Still, it wasn’t that hard to figure out how to putt. And the goofy smile Holster got when he was trying to “teach Dex the fine art of putt putt” was worth the laughs of bratty nine year olds. 

Now on the sixteenth hole, however, Dex is at an impasse. Holster is, theoretically, one stroke away from sinking it in the hole. Holster started using innuendo around hole ten, and now Dex can’t unthinking it. But that’s another matter. 

The real issue is Holster keeps flubbing. He’s eight strokes above par. And now he won’t stop readjusting his position and stance. 

“Seriously, Holster,” Dex says as he rubs his temple. 

“William, I am trying my best,” Holster banters. 

“You’re overthinking a kiddie game,” he says with a narrow gaze. 

“I’m doing the best I can!”

“I just want to make it stop. This is supposed to be fun!” 

Holster freezes. “You’re not having fun?” 

Dex blushes, averting his gaze. He clenches his fists around his club. “It was funny before. But you’re spending more time getting worked up about a stupid ball. I just…thought this was a date.”

He doesn’t look up when Holster puts a hand on his shoulder. But then Holster lifts his chin so their eyes can meet. His are soft and empathetic in a way that makes Dex’s stomach do somersaults. 

“It is a date,” Holster says softly. “Or it’s supposed to be. I’m sorry. I want us to have fun together.”

Dex nods hesitantly. 

Holster quirks a brow. “Wanna go grab smoothies?”

Dex balks. “We’ve got two holes left.” 

“If you’re not having fun, I’m not having fun.” Holster grins. “I wanna do whatever makes you happy.” 

He considers this for a moment. “Is it ok if we finish this first? I like watching you enjoy yourself too.” 

Holster kisses him chastely on the lips. “You bet your sweet hockey ass we can.” 

Dex rolls his eyes. He literally signed up for this.
