Exactly.. Police officers take pictures and videos being around black kids and such.. Like that’s gonna stop the beatings and killings.

Commitment
This school year I am committing to always putting my students first. Fuck how they affect me, how what they do makes me feel, at the end of the day its about how I support them.
I’m committing to not asking for any gratitude and not seeking it. Im here to work with my kids for them not for me. Im committing to keeping this in mind every time I feel frustrated with a student’s attitude/response.
Last but not least, I will always speak up for my kids when they’re unable to, but I won’t speak for them.
Happy new school year everyone.
Fo Real Tho
Lol I don't think white people are afraid that Mexicans will outnumber them, I think they're afraid the US will turn into another Mexico, full of dirty, uneducated people
The U.S. is already full of “uneducated” people, honey. Starting with your people and your false interpretations of history. The reason your people placed this “dirty” label on mine is because they needed a reason to dehumanize them by dosing them in Zyklon B at the border, but I guess it’s in your nature to boast about your relatable Nazi tendencies.
Really, I think White people are so insecure about themselves they get off on accosting non-White people to make themselves feel better. Oh, and, another Mexico" lol, bitch the U.S. WAS Mexico, and this land will be BROWN again. Stay mad. Now go ask your mom for Chipotle money and run along.
Self
Lately I’ve done a lot of self-reflecting and its been emotional, eye opening, and therapeutic. I’ve overwhelmed myself with work, something I said I would never do, but as a middle class person living in the US I guess I never really had a choice on whether or not I’d sell myself as a slave to make ends meet. Not that I’m complaining about my job, I fucking love my job. However its not what I do that tires and stresses me out, its the fact that even though I’m doing something I love for a living and I work long hours, its never enough. I continue to stress about money, not spending time with my family, and giving up organizing in San Jose. I look back at my college years and how complete i felt back then, I had a purpose. I had the privilege of meeting gente that was down to fight for our every day struggles, getting the best education from mi gente. I was able to go home on the weekends and spend time with my familia, I spent every friday at my ama’s (grandmother) casa with my tios, tias, and primos. Shit changed so quickly and before I knew it, I had to say goodbye to my comrades and I stopped going to my Ama’s house on Fridays because I would get home around 9pm. That shit just bums me out. Now don’t get me wrong, Im not in need of anyone’s pitty and I acknowledge that I live a pretty privileged life. I have a dope husband, we own our house (as long as we pay for it HA!), my family is happy and healthy, and I got a chill ass job that I love. I guess what I’ve began to discover throughout my self reflection is that my choice to wok in a different city to where my family lives is similar to the sacrifice that my papi and mami made when they left their country. Although the sacrifice my parents is so much greater than mine (and I mean WAAAAAAY greater), I cant help but notice some similarities. Living away from home, working long hours, not really spending time with familia, trying to save up money only to have random shit come up and clean out your bank account. I’ve learned so much from my parents struggles and I know that the small sacrifices I’m making are temporary. I guess what I’m going through is the first generation struggles. Its that pressure to be successful, to make sure that our parents sacrifices were worth it and to continue to uphold our cultura meanwhile assimilating into the American culture just enough to be accepted. As I continue to reflect, I want to keep in mind and heart that I need to continue my self growth so that I am able to maintain a balance of happiness and fulfillment.
rant over, for now.
Mood.
My perfect morning includes a comfy sweater, a great book, and some good coffee.
I remember being 10 and watchin this like….yeah she’s grown why tf her parents being so unreasonable.
real.
Why did no one tell me about this show before? and WTF is it cancelled?! :(
The Dance of Two Cultures: A performance honoring California’s Punjabi and Mexican communities, mixing Bhangra and Mexican folklórico.
“This show combines Indian form of dance, Mexican form of dance. We are not doing it for the sake of fusion, but our own collaboration is a telling of this story.”
I love her
There’s nothing more peaceful than laying on the couch with a warm blanket, a glass of champagne, and christmas lights. :)
And don't worry, all that dirt I got on you when you were drunk is safe and sound.*Wink*
One thing that I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older is that you are bound to lose touch with people who you once considered to be your best friends. Thats life. I’ve also grown to learn that true friendship is a relationship that isn’t always going to be picture perfect and although it can sometimes take years to rekindle that friendship, if it survives, you’ll cherish it more than ever. I teared up as I read this article. There are friends I wish I never lost touch with, friends that I wish I could talk to now. Although we might not have ended on the best terms, I got made love for them. <3
Today I woke up at 8am instead of 4:30am. I got to make myself breakfast at home, I got to lay on the couch with my husband and watch movies, and I even got to spend time playing tetris. lol I cannot remember the last time I had a lazy day like this. I’m loving it. :)
It’s okay to be overwhelmed. It’s okay when none of your coping strategies are working. It’s okay to be at a complete loss. It’s okay to feel utterly inadequate. It’s okay to have no answers. It’s okay if none of the things people say should be relaxing actually make you relax. It’s okay.
Social Media.
Lately I’ve been thinking about the obsession with social media. I’ve been thinking about how I feel the need to constantly take pictures of my coffee, my food, where I’m at, pretty much EVERYTHING. I’ve been thinking about how on my anniversary with my husband, I thought about what I would post on instagram... like the world just had to know. The obsession with instagram and facebook and snapchat and well...everything is so stressful.
Aside from what I post, I find it ridiculous and even a bit scary how much power we as people give to social media. Facebook says you should change your profile picture to a flag to support a cause most people don’t know the full details to and BAM! everyone’s picture is changed, sympathy statuses and articles overflow everyone’s statuses. its mind-blowing. Theres times when I’d like to challenge stupid shit like that but I get to the point where I realized its not even worth the fight.
Anyways, moral of this rant. I gotta check my self before I wreck myself with the bullshit i post/read online.
