It ends or it doesn’t
I remember seeing someone on here once say that they disliked how the xianzhou was excused from doing fucked up stuff because the hunt is bad and the abundance is good, and I honestly do believe that is a misinterpretation of the paths and the aeons.
First of all none of the aeons are “good” or “bad”, not even the destruction, because the aeons themselves are just beings that embody a certain concept, and these concepts on their own can’t have morality without human interpretation, which is what a path is.
The game goes out of its way to say pathstriders do not always follow the actual beliefs of the aeon they say they follow. Welt has a line where he basically goes “the IPC don’t follow the amber lords actual concepts at all really” and if the paths were all completely accurate to aeon, why would there even be multiple paths??
This is an important basis for the xianzhou because like neither the hunt nor the abundance are objectively the good one because which one is good comes down to your perception. Not all the followers of the abundance are going to be out here at war with the xianzhou because that’s not how it works and considering the guy who’s based on Otto apocalypse is trying to kill the aeon themself, I assume the game will go back to this line and say “destroying and entire concept and killing everyone who disagrees with you is bad actually”.
I think I got proven right by exotale scene 8 when silver wolf says “the xianzhou will return to the path of the hunt” and it shows them following luocha and jingliu’s plan and how that’s a bad thing. I think in a way the story is about how extremism is not a good thing and I do hope they explore it more as while the original xianzhou story line was my least fav by far, I think this could be genuinely really interesting to explore
tabula rasa
Despite the many thing I have discussed on tumblr my true passion has yet to be discussed. I will change that today by going on an incredibly long rant/ analysis of Kris Deltarune after not playing the game for a while so honestly this could be way more insane than it could be.
I love Kris so much and one of the things I love about them that I don’t see many people bring up is how the players perception of Kris changes between each chapter. Like chapter 1 presents Kris as some weird loner who has only really started doing stuff with their life since being crontolled by the player. This is so interesting, cause not only does it make an interesting thing for Kris where people only seem to like you when you aren’t yourself, but also sort of seems like you are being justification for possessing Kris anyway. “Oh they weren’t doing much with their life, what are they really missing out on anyway”.
Then chapter 2 comes around and says “Kris is a real person with real emotions and you are ruining their week right now”. Spatmon NEO and the snowgrave route are direct parallels to the situation between Kris and the player. Kris within this chapter is shown to be an innocent victim being horrifically controlled by a force they can’t comprehend, that sees them like a game. In the worst case scenario they are forced to manipulate abuse and hurt one of their only remaining childhood friends and kill a guy they had know probably the majority if not all of their life. The only thing that goes against this is the creation of the fountain at the end of the chapter, but this can be easily written off as making bad decisions Under stress.
Then chapters 3 and 4 came out and everything changed and everyone (me included lost their minds).
Now I am a Kris apologist, I know they a re probably making very bad choices but I am possessing them and forcing them on a date with berdly who am I to judge.
There are a pretty decent number of players who absolutely hate Kris and get made at them for “getting in the way” “taking over control” and “working with the villains”. Which I love because half of these the player is actually the one doing to them. Many people have pointed out the players control of Kris presents themes of depression, a feeling of a lack of agency and control that comes with it. Something very bad happened to Kris and we know they went to therapy and we know it likely didn’t help that much. Kris makes bad choices likely because they blame themselves for what happened to Des and hey they are more than likely working with carol, which leads on to talks of possible grooming and at the very least a very manipulative relationship between a minor and the literal head of the town.
Because it’s also important to note just how isolated Kris is. They are the only human in town which we know they are deeply insecure about, their parents (while I think toriel honestly gets way more slack then she should) are somewhat absent and are failing to notice that everytime they see this child it is literally someone else possessing their body. They had no real friends before susie, who is friends with the sole let’s be real. And the final nail in the coffin is Kris likely hates themselves.
They’ve lived their entire life being othered and isolated. They see themselves as inferior to their brother (which isn’t helped by some pretty clear favouritism) and the fact that their home in the dark world, a literal manifestation of escapism, is filled with trophies, the fact that susie calls it out the moment she goes into Kris’s room. Kris is painfully aware that people think they aren’t as worthy or interesting and they believe it too. Kris can’t even use the dark world to escape their problems because their depression their lack of agency follows them their, and their self loathing manifests in dark world constantly it seems.
The one time Kris seems to regain a sense of agency is when they make the most dangerous and unhealthy choices they possibly can. Ripping out their soul, working with the knight, slashing the tyres on the car. EVEN THEN, the phonecall at the end of chapter 4 proves that they aren’t in control, not really.
Kris they could never make me hate you
One day maybe I’ll talk about Kris and the snowgrave route or just Kris more in general but that’s all for now
Ok so in my last post I talked about how Caleb was in the wrong for certain things that happened in episode 8 but I want to go in depth about it cause I love him.
The first thing Caleb is absolutely in the wrong for is trying to take the spell book. He is an adult and he has been told doing this would be a huge risk they aren’t able to take, he puts six other people at risk for his own selfishness. You can also totally understand why he would do that, the other people in the group haven’t done a lot to show they trust him, beau said to him only a few days ago she would snap his neck if didn’t explain himself, he doesn’t think they are going to be there for him so he takes the one thing he needs to defend himself, magic. Caleb is in the wrong but you can understand exactly where both sides come from which is really nice to see.
Caleb was also very close to betraying the party at the end of the episode during his conversation with ikithon. Of course he was. He’s having his first conversation with his abuser in like 10 years after doing literally no healing. Trent is the worst, he’s manipulative and he knows Caleb, he seems to be obsessed with Caleb. Ikithon should be 100% be blamed and no one should be surprised that this occurs. HOWEVER, Caleb does almost put the nein in a very dangerous position, and not only wakes up to see him about to betray them all for something (she doesn’t even know what it is), of course she’s going to be upset about what happened, she has every right to be.
Caleb is very interesting character to me because you can fully understand his mind set and feel bad for him, I love Caleb and I feel really bad for him all the time. But he’s still a selfish person who puts others in harms way a lot, both things can absolutely be true and it’s important to recognise that to be able to appreciate how he grows later on.
Mighty Nein Episode 8 fist thoughts (spoilers for the entire episode below)
THAT MELTING ANIMATION AT THE BEGINNING DEAR LORD. So well animated but also vile as hell, when the girl slumped against the tree ugh horrific.
As always I love Jester
Caleb Widogast making bad choices, this is what I like to see. This opening is fun, also Jester gets a pretty dress so we both win.
Omg dust of deliciousness I know what you are. I saw that clip in an animatic years ago and it took me so long to realise it was from critical role.
Beauregard I can’t believe they are underestimating you my queen. I mean I get why but I can’t believe they are underestimating you.
IKITHON GO AWAY
Molly Mock just driving everyone around in a carriage and having little chats with everyone is peak actually one of my fav parts of the episode

THE TRAVELER, did not expect this one
I forgot fjord was there I can shapeshift I was thinking how Caleb even got in there
This is going very well but Caleb has actually only made 1 bad choice so I assume somethings about to go very badly.
OK I KNOW HARDLY ANYTHING ABOUT MOLLY OTHER THAN LIKE WHAT THE LUCIEN DEAL IS, BUT SHE KILLED HIM
Omg ikithon and Caleb having a private conversation this can only mean bad things
ALL THE CARDS FALLING AND ONLY THE EYE LANDING FACE UP OMGGGGGG
“Dunamancy is so strong it could end all war” I will dive deep into that line you best believe
CALEB WIDOGAST MAKING ONLY BAD CHOICES LETS FUCKING GO. Anyway saw someone was annoyed they got rid of Caleb’s motivation glad i was proven right that it was gone be a later reveal cause of course he wouldn’t tell the Nein that.

Mighty Nein Episode 7 spoilers below
Caleb widogasts backstory has sparked a lot of debate on wether he is sympathetic (which isn’t really the important part of his character in the first place, it’s about growing from your past, not being instantly forgiven cause people were mean to you as well) but one of the arguments that’s really confused me is about how old Bren was.
Bren was around 15 years old, and I’ve seen people use that as a reason that he should have had more agency in his own actions, which like again you don’t have to sympathise with Caleb but saying a 15 year old should have had enough agency to stand up to his teacher, well older than him, who was grooming him and torturing him, is a horrible take. Another argument I’ve seen is that Bren was raised by loving parents in a kind community (which ignores how the patriotism of his family was the beginning of his indoctrination under Ikithon) ignores the fact that 2 years under an abusive figure, with no access to that community is going to significant damage to someone.
Saying Caleb shouldn’t have been able to be indoctrinated because he was already 15 shows that you don’t understand how dangerous this is. Bren’s story isn’t happening in real life, but it’s an extreme case of abuse and grooming and also an extreme case of how easy it is for children to be swept up in fascism, a story that is very important in the times we live in.
crazy the number of people I've seen going "god did they make Caleb's backstory worse?" like uh. no actually. not really. barring maybe one or two small details, that's always been what it's like. I'm starting to think maybe you just didn't engage with it properly
I think one of the main reasons I love Hal in campaign 4 is because he ISNT a man with a tragic life and backstory where nothing has gone right for him. Hal has had a happy and successful life, has a good relationship with his children’s mothers and a good relationship with his children as well. We get to witness the first tragedy of his life as the very first scene and from there we get to see a man, who despite so many around him being criminals and going out into the world, who only a few days ago had been living a normal happy life, lose so much and discover how he can help the home he loves. Hal isn’t some tragic sad man, he’s a beacon of hope who has only had a few days to grieve and still manages to be able to support others.
I love when Hal gets the liars blade and Brennan talks about the good Thjazi did with it and how Hal has the opportunity to do great too. I love this idea of growing and healing from tragedy and Hal’s pain becoming the spark that draw him to action.
I made this in like 10 mins
Yes the worm theory is real.
Something about Welt that I have never seen anyone talk about for hsr is the fact that he probably has a hsr counterpart somewhere in the world. THIS IS SO INTERESTING TO ME AND NOONE ELSE EVER THEORISES ABOUT IT. Really if Hoyoverse wants to makes counter parts of Honkai impact 3rd characters the most interesting one for me is the character who’s Honkai impact 3rd self is in Honkai star rail.
The sad part is I have brought this up to people multiple times and everytime I say this to people they go “Welt isn’t a hsr version of the welt from hi3 he is directly from hi3” LIKE YEAH I KNOW THAT WAS LITERALLY MY POINT SURELY HE STILL HAS A HSR COUNTERPART. I gave up trying to explain but he is the only I think I can garuntee people understand:
In the equestrian girls movies the first two films have twilights sparkle from the pony world but in the 3rd movie they introduce the twilight from the human world. I want that but hi3 and hsr welt
Sometimes I think back to the penacony storyline, specifically the 2.2 story and just get really sad at how welt and robin were handled when Sunday traps them. Like they just don’t bring it up????? I don’t know if I missed of forgot something but you mean to tell me that they got trapped by Sunday and next time we hear about them they’ve already woken up from the dream???? WHAT HAPPENED INBETWEEN THAT TELL ME
I know they just needed to write Welt out cause otherwise he could just resolve the conflict but if you’re gonna do that at least give me some sad stuff. Idk in my head 3.8s penacony quest goes into it so I’ll leave in that happy world until I’m awoken into the land of zero welt relevance
savoir faire jean jacket inspired by @dfox3 ;-)) the shivers jacket they made was cool as hell, so i thought i'd paint my own! very happy with how it turned out. thank you for the inspo!
Tried painting a denim jacket for the first time and I’m super happy with how this turned out. The skill portraits from disco elysium have such cool designs and they fit perfectly on a jacket. Might make another one in the future but for right now just proud of my first attempt at one.
