settler occupation and deputizing israeli settlers to do violence against palestinians is a huge part of the occupation strategy as a whole, just as it was during the frontier/manifest destiny era in the US. however, in the wild west days, there wasn't a mandatory army conscription training every US citizen in how to murder more efficiently either. besides physically occupying land that doesn't belong to them, israeli 'civilians' build modern housing developments that do things like:

piping raw, untreated sewage from said housing developments into neighboring agricultural fields, not only destroying food sources but poisoning the fields so they have to be remediated before growing more food

uprooting ancient olive groves for said developments

bringing arms and shooting palestinian neighbors with impunity (from today, july 30th 2026)

stealing water resources, including damming fresh water sources that would otherwise flow to places like gaza
