D.Gray-High : A closed high school AU roleplay group for D.Gray-Man.
For the first time in years, two of the most exclusive high schools on the East Coast, the Black Order and Noahâs Ark Academy, are open for applications.
The Black Order is a Christian boarding school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Due to the schoolâs relatively small size, there is a sense of camaraderie between the students.
Noahâs Ark Academy is a competing private school, recruiting students of equal talent to those of the Black Order, but with a very different set of morals. Although the Academy is smaller than the Order, the size lends to a high level of competition rather than friendship.
The two schools interact quite often, often competitively. Although the rivalry may seem like friendly competition between schools, there seems to be more to itâŚ
Personality: Outwardly, Neah maintains a polite personality, able to deflect attention or notice with a word or two. He uses this mainly for strangers and with teachers, though he acts like this for most of his âfriendsâ too. While heâs not charismatic enough to actually get what he wants, he can lie his way through anything with a straight face. Underneath all that politeness, Neah is impulsive, which lead him to skip a lot of classes his first two years. He often finds himself detached from others because of the amount of years of giving up in a system that never listened to him, but he finds it hard to make friends when he hasnât had one for more than a decade.
Biography: Born in an abandoned mansion taken over by his family in Ohio, Neah spent six years doing what he did best, causing mischief to his mother and brother (but mostly his brother). He admired his brother in everything, and tried to join whatever it was that Mana was doing. Usually, this involved pranks on the other members of their family, but they spent their time outside mostly. Climbing trees, shocking whatever animals in the forest they saw to death, and collecting whatever they wanted, and just having fun.
When Neah was seven, the mansion burned down and he ran as far away as he could, and while the fire department could put out the fire, by the time the last flame was gone, so was Neahâs family. As Neah was only seven, he didnât know any of his relatives from out of state, or how to contact them. And with the fact that no one came back to the ruined house, none of the neighbors nearby even knowing that his family was living in the building, the police turned him over to the foster care system, where he spent many years living with and running away from every single family.
It wasnât that he didnât like the families, they were all nice people. And he tried to be good at school, really. He was smart enough for it as all the social workers would tell him. But as he grew older, all the studying that he was required to do at all the schools his foster parents signed him up for got more and more overwhelming until he just gave up and went back to searching, tho he would usually spend a week or so being as normal as he could before he started searching. It helped him get familiar with the area and it also (at least in his mind) let his foster parents imagine that everything was going smoothly and pretend that they had a son.
Eventually though, as word spread that he was a serial runner, he was adopted less and less until he was stuck in a halfway house for half a year at 17. He became short-tempered and moody then, lashing out at the younger kids when they screamed too loud, ignoring the adults, taking up smoking, and just being a general nuisance. Thatâs when the Academy called the house and said that he had been accepted into the program at their school. At first, Neah was convinced it was juvie or something close to it, but it took the head teacher to come down and explain that it wasnât that he became open to the idea. That and a written letter from the Headmaster of the Academy saying that if Neah graduated, the Headmaster would put all the money the school had to find his family. And with that, Neahâs mind was made up.
It took him several weeks to adjust to his new surroundings. He had only briefly been in Philadelphia once before, but that was years ago, when he was getting adopted left and right. He skipped classes when they were covering material he didnât understand (which was practically every lesson), so he explored the entire school his first year. The second year, as he got really antsy from spending all the time in one place, he proceeded to explore the city around him, even managing to explore at least the edges of the Black Orderâs territory. He never intended to find a way into the school itself, be it secret or otherwise; he finds the kids going there boring and easily predictable. So he wanders the streets, content for now, but still restless.
Other (likes/dislikes/sexuality, etc. ):
⢠Had to repeat two semesters for skipping so many classes
⢠Can draw landscapes very well
⢠Likes all sports
⢠Asexual/Biromantic
Welcome, Students and Faculty, to the Next Academic Year!
Today, both the Black Order and Noah's Ark Academy are opening their doors. Students are free to begin moving into their dorms; classes start on Monday. Feel free to explore the campus, the area, and begin meeting your classmates. Be wary, though! School rivalries are very much real.
Because this roleplay group encourages both in-character blogging and paragraph roleplay, we ask only to stay within a general space of time. You may start a paragraph roleplay of the day classes start.

Character Information
Personality: Allen is generally very kind and friendly towards those he meets, speaking politely and almost never cussing (except in special circumstances)Â in fear of causing insult or seeming uncultured, doing his best to smile for everybody. He is often very selfless, going out of his way to do favours for others even if it is at dire expense to himself, and feels very strongly about people once he forms attachments. He can sometimes be a little short tempered, but more often than not he can keep it in check.
Biography: Having been removed from his birth parents at a young age (and having lost any records or memory of his previous life), Allen was adopted and taken care of by Mana Walker, a man who worked in childrenâs entertainment and often travelled with Allen for work. After a car accident that killed Mana and left Allen permanently scarred, he woke in the hospital to find a strange man who claimed to have adopted him in Manaâs stead and introduced himself as Cross Marian. Once recovered, Cross dragged Allen along as he travelled across the world, earning money through dubious means to fund his bad habits and apparent âwork scheduleâ (which Allen strongly doubted he even had). After five years of hundreds of cities and a life of hardship and numerous unanswered questions, Cross suddenly told Allen that the Black Order had asked for him to apply for a scholarship, with no explanation or reason why. Dubiously, Allen made the application and was accepted, Cross miraculously disappearing as soon as he received the acceptance letter, so he was on his own to make his way to Pennsylvania and enrol formally at the school.
Other:
orientation; grey-aromantic
He enjoys food, orchestral music and shows a particular interest in the zoologically dubious. He harbours a particular dislike for alcohol and the smell of smoke from many years spent with Cross, and he canât stand if a person assaults another for no apparent/decent reason. He has an affinity for biology, math and various forms of cheating (though he never cheats for classes). He has a single small piercing in his left ear.

Name:Â Miranda Lotto
Blog URL:Â xrewind
Age:Â 18
Grade:Â senior (12th)
Birthday:Â January 1st
Gender:Â female (cis)
Pronouns:Â she/her
Personality:Â Easily stressed and extremely prone to bouts of irrational, negative thoughts, Miranda may come across as nothing more than a nervous, reclusive klutz to most. However, lying underneath is a softhearted person who wants nothing more than to finally find a sense of belonging. Unused to positive interactions with others, sheâs incredibly awkward when placed in social situationsâshe is only able to truly open up to those who treat her with kindness and patience, and will quickly become attached to those who do. Despite her clumsiness and lack of self-confidence, Miranda still somehow remains a stubborn individual, and will give her all to help anyoneâor anythingâin need of her assistance.
Biography: Born and raised in Germany for the first four years of her life, Miranda moved to a small town not too far outside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, when her father accepted a job offer in the area. There she attended public school until seventh grade, then switched to being homeschooled by her mother because of difficulties caused by her generalized anxiety disorder, which she was diagnosed with at the age of nine. Her senior year at the Black Order will be her first year back attending a ârealâ school, and although her grades have always been rather high, Mirandaâs still not quite sure if the academy is the right place for her.
Other:Â
Likes:Â indie/acoustic music, pears, antiques (clocks in particular)
Dislikes:Â loud noises, rainy days, large groups of people, being the center of attention
Hobbies:Â collecting and fixing items others have given up on
ive been tempted to apply as Allen for a while now (ive seen this blog around and i really love the idea!) but i feel like he would be too major of a character for me to do? ive roleplayed Al a fair bit in the past but i just thought id ask here to see what you guys would think if i applied as him, sorry if im being a bother!
There's no prerequisite for applying for a character; you just need to fill out the application. RP groups are actually a great place for new roleplayers, because others will be willing to help you learn. However, if you don't feel comfortable playing a main character, keep in mind that any characters from the D.Gray-Man manga, novels, and anime are fair game - don't worry about a character being too minor; sometimes those are the most fun!

Hi! I wondered if I needed to create my future blog prior to submit the application? As the URL is asked for in said application. I'd also like to know whether my lack of knowledge about american schools might be a problem?
Hello!
The field for the blog is mainly for the purpose of the application once itâs been accepted to serve as an easy reference point. You donât have to make a blog before youâre accepted, as we understand that committing that time without the guarantee youâll use it is pretty unappetizing, but youâre encouraged to begin thinking about it!
Mostly; donât worry.
Fun fact: most of us in the public school system in the United States actually view private schools as pretty foreign! If only for the fact we have no experience with them beyond the gross Catholic school girl trope. If you want to, you can do some casual research, but it shouldnât be a problem. This is all pretty low-key.
