As a lower deity, the deity of ambition has never had much of a respected position in the Sairmosian Pantheon. The status of deity in itself has always been a very fickle thing, easily changed by the whims of the Celestial Emperor. Some millennia ago, Sun had angered the Emperor, & as a result, he was banished from his role in the heavenly court, cursed to the simple life of a mortal. However, because of how much ambition he harbored, he was able to maintain all of his power & memory. Consequently, he suffered little of what was originally planned for him; still, he was forced to live through the cycle of life & reincarnation until he could unlock the chain.
Unfortunately, he has been unable to do so for the past couple thousands of years. As a result, he has lived multiple lives & died multiple times, remembered every life & every death, lost uncountable amounts of children & spouses & parents; & as the repetitions passed, his emotional tolerance rose to unprecedented heights, to the point where he learned to feign emotional responses as to seem normal, since he had become incredibly desensitized to emotional stimuli.
Therefore, the history that he gives to the inquisitor, or anyone who bothers to ask ( found on this page ) is not completely a lie. It is his current life’s history, & each painful or pleasurable moment was experienced, albeit emotionally removed. Yet despite what he’d like to think, Sun’s mental & physical health in each of his incarnations are affected by his situations, & they are not erased or removed after each death.
The trauma of dying, especially violently or painfully, continues to leave lasting marks on him mentally.
Sun’s reincarnation process is not limited to the human race, as the pantheon he hails from is universal in Sairmus. Because humans are the most common in sentient beings, he tends to reincarnate as one of them; however, it is possible for him to be born as an elf or a dwarf, or even as something not completely sentient if he isn’t careful. He’s been a bee once.
Although he retains his magical abilities, they usually do not manifest until prepubescence. However, he usually does not need a lot of training to remaster them, & as always, his abilities are far stronger & more elaborate than anyone before or after him.
To summarize, Sun has not always been trapped in a reincarnation cycle, but for the last couple thousand of years he’s been trying to exit such a cycle without much success. Despite being reborn, however, he does not forget anything of his past lives; as a result, he has become both incredibly emotional desensitized as well as incredibly adept at feigning emotions. His reincarnation patterns do not limit him to purely humans. His abilities are still in tact, but manifest around the ages of 9 & 10.
