mod or something writing shit again. Sorry.
Leon woke with a start. His heart jumping out of his chest, lungs gasping for air, ribs feeling like they were collapsing on him and ears ringing with his body shooks. He quickly caught his breath into silent, shallow pants as he glanced at you next to him. Still asleep, thank fucking god. He sats up on the edge of the bed leaning his head into his hands, fingers curling into his hair.
He sat there for a second, trying to calm himself from the nightmare. Then he stood up, his t-shirt sliding down his damp torso to cover his stomach, the hem resting over his hips. He walked out of the bedroom as quietly and quickly as he could, closing the door behind him. It was just a dream, they can't hurt you, or anyone else. You're safe, it's in the past. It's okay, he repeated in his mind again, and again, and again as he walked through the apartment in the kitchen.
With shaking hands, he opened the faucet and drank some water straight from it. As he wiped the dripping water from his lips, he leaned on the counter, catching his rapid breath and the heart beat on his throat.
Minutes pass as he stood there, trying to calm himself, while he could still hear the footsteps following him. A shadow sat in the corner of his eye, lurking in the dark corners of his house—the shadow of the past that followed him everywhere.
"It's just a dream, a memory that never happened. Fucking get it together."
Leon muttered to himself as his fingers curled to dig into his hand. The sting pulled some part of him back here, his skin almost braking under the pressure. He glimpsed over to his side, the shadow fleeting every inch he moves his eyes. With a deep breath, he finally straightened himself up, feeling his muscles loosen a little.
He started to saunter back to the bedroom, playing back the nightmares and flashbacks he had. Opening the bedroom door and peering over at you, still seemingly sleeping, he leaned against the doorframe with a relieved sigh. He closed the door behind him, while tiptoeing back to bed. He might not sleep the rest of the night, but he'd rather lie in the bed next to you, just to give his body a chance to rest before he had to leave.
