I been thinking about the line in the original RE4, where Leon gives the audience insight on how he sees his relationship with Ada.

“She’s like a part of me I can’t let go.”

It may be a simple sentence, but it is the one line that captures the entirety of what Ada means to Leon. He doesn’t directly say that he loves her. He doesn’t directly say that he wishes he could be with her. Instead, he indirectly says that she integral to him.

And I came across an Aeon edit by Lil Rednote user JOI1024 (ID: 953318010) with the background music “爱你是我的秘密” (Loving You is My Secret) by 莊淇文29.

This is a song about the type of love that is quietly endured and is kept intentionally hidden. Some feelings become more profound because they are never spoken aloud.

Why It Fits

I love every version of you: the good and the bad, the true and the false, the illusion and the real.

He knows Ada is a complicated woman, but he acknowledges and accepts it. Unlike how he initially fell for her in RE2, he is fully aware of the nature of her work/life in the aftermath of RE2 and in RE4. He makes his sentiments very clear: his love is unconditional, he loves Ada in her entirety.

Leon knows that they could never be. His life is not his to decide and her life is revolves around her work. He stands for doing the right thing, and her focus is on what she was contracted to do. They repeatedly stand side by side, yet they’re separated by the lives they’ve chosen. In a way, he holds on to the feelings from when they first met when the main objective was supporting each other so that they could survive. It wasn’t the best circumstances, but it was much simpler than the reality they have now. And Leon accepts this but at the same time this doesn’t change his love for her.

The Song’s Title:

Leon says:

“She’s like a part of me I can’t let go.”

He acknowledges that the relationship could never be, but he doesn’t attempt to erase the sentiments that remain. The love is no longer defined by the hope of being together, but by its special place in the deepest part of him.

I feel like Leon may not entirely know what each item is for, but he is very perceptive and is able to fake it till he makes it. However, Infinite Darkness Leon is one of his most shameless (affectionate) eras, so I would see him going:

“This is [name of item], and I love my boyfriend 😉”

And he would do that for every line while trying to peck a kiss at the Reader. And they would get distracted and also forget to turn off the recording 🫪

I dunno, I always headcanon that he loves to hear and know that he’s desired. He wants to be cherished and loved, but he will take being needed (even if it’s just to use him) if that’s the closest thing he will ever get to love. He is incredibly lonely and he desperately wants to find somewhere to fit in. I think this is also why he is a very self sacrificing person, because most people think that sacrificial gestures are reciprocated…but that’s NOT always the case 🥲

did you know that leeches are most commonly found in freshwater sources? you probably know that part. since there's like... ponds, lakes, swampys. but there's also land leeches that live in tropical areas too, so you can usually find them in damp or mossy sections of rainforests. and i recently found out there's also some in saltwater as well. which wow okay, that's interesting. what i find most interesting though is... that did you know that if ethan winters went into a pool his concerns shouldn't be the algae or whatever else can grow if it's not treated and cleaned regularly? leeches are basically segmented worms. now it's a different kind of thing that he has to worry about in the water. because if he went in with his wife (me) and he loses sight of her, he'd end up feeling something latch onto his peepee underneath the surface. and unfortunately for him there's no scientifically proven safe way to remove that kind of leech from between his thighs.

their interactions are kinda less gay in the original but istg I heard Krauser say “good Leon” like one would compliment a dog at one point during the fight.

I mean, I might’ve misheard, the audio balancing is still not perfect in OG 4 and there’s no subtitles, but that is 100% what it sounded like.

and there was another that I think was “you’ve gone soft” which does have crazy implications. like I think more likely than not it was just hinting at the fact that Leon is currently Dying of Plaga, but also the idea that Leon wasn’t fighting with his full strength and Krauser noticed is… ough they make me ill.

I think the fight is better in the remake from what I’ve seen, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the original.

oh and Leon getting soooo pissed at Saddler and phrasing it as (approximately I am not looking for the direct quote rn) “you were just using him the whole time” is like. you can tell that Leon really cared about Krauser and the idea of him being used, even though he kidnapped Ashley and was working with Wesker, pissed him off.

I fully understand why the remake had it so that Krauser trained Leon because in the original they fight so similarly. like there are obvious differences, but they both default to knives and do all sorts of flips and shit. like idk about the remake, but I would say Krauser flips as much as Leon does in the original.

the end of the fight is no where near as emotional though. you can check his body and Leon laments that he used to be a good guy, but you the player have no time to process it because you got like a minute before you die from the building you fought on exploding.

and the scar on Leon’s cheek,,, wish they kept that as part of his character design. I mean, it is in my heart.
