Mannix really went “Love is love but I need you to frame your boyfriend and ruin his life.” Like how did you think that was gonna go
bodies is literally all the tropes i love in one show wtf
we have a grumpy father figure + accidentally aquired child, historical gays with silly + serious, mysterious girl + dorky nerd
basically go watch bodies bc it's super diverse (queer + poc rep) and the plot is amazing
I know I only posted about Alfred but to be clear Karl also has my whole heart
Elias Mannix mocking Alfred Hillinghead for sacrificing himself out of love for Henry, when the only reason he did all the shit he did was because he wanted to be loved.
Maybe because he knows that even the people he claims to love or will love, he would never sacrifice himself for. Because he's too selfish. He has convinced himself he loves them, but he doesn't, not completely, not unconditionally. He lies to himself.
the detective doth protest too much, methinks
Please hold me.
hugs…
not to risk shouting into the void on the lords day of rest but y'all should watch bodies I feel like there's only about 4 people watching and i am withering like a water starved house plant without talking about it
I did watch it! And liked it!
"My love for you and Polly, it's so very real. It's just that...there was always something else, just as real. No matter how much I didn't want it to be."
Kyle Soller as D.I. Alfred Hillinghead in BODIES (2023)
You can tell Elias Mannix was a teenager in the 2020s cause he loudly states disclaimers before doing anything that could be perceived as offensive and used in a callout post
"Just for the record I am killing you because you interfere with my evil plans and NOT!!! because I am homophobic 💖 #ally #loveislove"

BODIES (2023)
[God damn it, just run! They will kill you. And I cannot live with your blood on my hands. It is a waste of your hope, your light. You cannot win this. Run.] They won't leave you alone. You won't have a life worth living either. Come with me.
