Famous last words. Famous words of high expectations, and if Remy was the only judge on the evening's events, he would say that expectations were firmly met. The only thing which frightened the thief was the death of his loved ones . . . but that was not what the night had in store when it promised supernatural oddities and spoopy things, as he came to learn the definition of the latter. Supernatural oddities had been interesting wording; the colorful sprinkles atop the sundae that was a rather simple array of haunted houses and mazes. In a world were aliens wished to destroy certain humans and literal Norse gods were far from myth, Gambit would take dangling plastic body parts and a pig-faced man waving an unchained chainsaw.

It was fun. Gloved fingers waved away the slightly off smelling fog which curled around their faces while something wet dripped on the shoulder of his jacket, and just then the very loud noise of objects falling and shattering boomed from behind them. While everything during the night had managed to make Remy chuckle, that had managed to raise his hackles. It sounded more than just noise emanating from covertly hidden speakers, but he did not dare turn away— that was what they wanted. Tension dissolved from his body, and a large grin touched his lips when Anna's @getlostsqdwrd hand sought his like gravitational pull. Mignonne. Hands may have been gloved, yet that did not interfere with them— with their bond. Slowly, his fingers curled to hold hers firm and tight while thumb moved back and forth to further provide comfort.

Words were spoke low and with reassurance. He doubted she would be able to hear him over the ambient noise and music, but it was for him just as much as for her. The things Rogue went through, the things both of them went through, some noises and fake evil dentists weren't enough to instill any real fear. It was just nice letting the silly monsters have their fun for one night. So, all in all, he had a great time.

Be it five or thirty-five, the amount of years hardly carried much leverage when the universe appeared hell bent on kicking his cul. However if Remy had any say on the matter, he would argue he was less prone to injury as an adult than as an enfant. Trouble and Gambit were attractive forces— gravity and a celestial body, a thief and treasure, or an Egyptologist and . . well, Egypt. Without danger there was no spice to life, so the cajun thief would take the bruises, the lacerations, and the near death experiences. Of course it always helped when life's spicy injuries were tended to by hands holding expertise or tenderness.

Remy sat back, pleased as a cat imbibing on milk, and simply watched as Evelyn @1ibrarin, with a stich in her brow from concentration, finished wrapping a line of gauze over the bandage on his bicep. Eyes watched the meticulous movements behind tinted glasses; they may have been close enough to care for each other's wounds, but the thief knew that even the bravest of people were left unsettled when red-on-black eyes bore into them, especially from such close proximity. When Evelyn finished and offered an inquisitive look toward his face, an approving smile stretched across his lips with a healthy dose of mirth decorating expression.

Remy ignored the twitch in his muscles stemming from the explosions of several fresh bruises across his abdomen and chest as he worked on donning his button-down shirt. Once he reached the top bottom, having worked from bottom to top, his eyes flicked over body before settling on her face. Evelyn, of course, could only see the dark lenses of sunglasses starting at her.
