A’IGHT so. I went to take my laptop to geek squad to be looked at for it to be pointed out that, with the way laptops work, it’s likely to be cheaper and better in the long run to just buy a new laptop given that this one is two years old. This is absolutely a fair assessment and half of why I already had in mind a laptop I want to replace this one with. It’s basically the 2.0 version of the same thing and a good 800$ (not to mention the 80$ file transfer or taxes.)

Now, the problem is, I’m unemployed. If nothing happens to prevent me from it, I should be getting unemployment benefits which means, starting in November, I can save a good 150-200$ a month. The problem there is it’ll take a good four months at least to save up enough on my own provided I don’t get a job between now and then and there is a reason I upgraded from this piece of shit laptop two years ago. And it’d be helpful to my mother for her to have it back for use as I’m only temporarily borrowing it.

So now I’m asking you guys for help. You can toss me money via Paypal or via googleWallet at [email protected]. Any help to speed up this process would be lovely! I’m also going to ask my family via facebook. Signal boosting is welcome and encouraged!

“Not I,” Aurvael said, expression carefully neutral but voice giving away his uncertainty and fatigue alike. If he was to be honest with himself, the current heir to House Haillenarte was still reeling from the fact that his brother was alive and... well, not quite home, but certainly closer to it than he had been for most of their lives. But Aurvael de Haillenarte was anything but honest with himself. He couldn’t afford to be, when being honest with himself would involve acknowledging the shadows that haunted him constantly. 

“Though your offer of aid is appreciated, I... thought I’d ask you for something else.” He fell quiet for a moment, pale blue eyes lifting to the sky, as if searching it for the answers he could find nowhere. “...Would you consider speaking with Mama soon? She has always ached from losing you, and ‘twould comfort her to spend time with you, to know that you’re as well - or better than - you seem from a distance.”

It’s a habit he’s fallen into over the years: looking after Mama first, the House and others second, and placing himself - Aurvael, not the heir - at the bottom of the list. Though, in truth, he’s not entirely certain there is an Aurvael underneath the title and the position any longer... certainly not one that even vaguely resembles the boy he once was.

Lord Aurvael de Haillenarte, eldest surviving son of Count Baurendouin de Haillenarte, was a deeply unhappy man and his health suffered for it. Though he endeavored to present himself as was befitting the future inheritor of his father’s title and estates - and navigated the intricate web of personal and political relationships relatively well - his smiles never reached his eyes,and there was a perpetual air of sadness about him.

Most attributed it to the loss of his elder brother, the original heir. The two had been close, even for brothers, and the loss had struck Aurvael very hard indeed. While that was partially true - some part of him had never, and likely would never, recover from having lost his confidant and near-twin at such a tender age, it was far from the only contributor to his current state.

In truth, if one were to ask the man himself, he’d admit that Ishgard itself seemed to be choking the life from him, day by day. Why he didn’t know and couldn’t say - there wasn’t any particular longing he could identify, no desires that gripped him. There might have been dreams, once, of flight and adventure, but those were a child’s fancies and had no bearing on things as they were now.

Instead, all he had was a pervasive sense of emptiness and a bone-deep awareness that this life he was trapped in was not what he wanted, yet all that he knew. He went about his daily routine while his heart wandered aimlessly, seeking something it had no way to find, and occasionally, like today, that constant unhappiness would draw illness to him like a fly to honey, and he’d find himself tucked away in his room with a cough and an aching throat, where he needn’t bother to pretend to be content with his lot.

... Sometimes, he was almost thankful for days like this, if only because he grew tired of pretending to a confidence and happiness he did not, and likely never would, feel.
