Today, I finally managed to word a connection I’ve been thinking of…

Talking to scammers is a lil like talking to church missionaries…

“Hello, how are you”

“Good, thanks”

“[insert boring back and forth, yet quite polite small talk here]”

And then BAM, they hit you with the final blow-

“Do you believe in Jesus Christ?”

Which is all I hear when I read-

“I make art, would you like to commission me to make art for your [free to read] fanfic?”

[also insert the one about beta readers or whatever else it is I’m forgetting here 🤷🏽‍♀️]

… at least the scam callers 📞 are pretty much straightforward and even fairly easy to avoid, too (missionaries are the most difficult, headphones no work 💀). 😭 These ones be complimenting you, hyping you up, even—then BAM, baptized in the waters of disappointment—“money, pretty plz-”
