my dess fandesign! For the scarf, I wanted her design to parallel Kris. The scarf is meant to be reminiscent of dark world Kris' cape. The scratch is meant to be a cat scratch, similar to how Kris has a cat bite on their hand. I headcanon that the reason Dess owns so many pairs of shoes is because after she was scratched by FRIEND, that feeling of her leg bleeding never truly escaped her. Even if the wound was 'healed', she could still feel the blood, seeping onto her shoes. Thus, a new pair every week
sorry to be blasting ur tags here LMFAO but THANK YOU SO MUCHH. The phantom limb thing was EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING FOR!!Especially since deer often loose their legs from car crashes and hunting injuries- it just feels so perfectly in-line for a deer character. But anyways yea i feel u so hard, after ch5 (i wont say any spoilers) i've been super duper invested in their story. atp Dess feels like the definition of haunting the narrative 😭 My theory right now is that Dess is a red herring of some sorts.. I can't remember where I watched this originally, but I recall seeing an interview clip w/ Alex Hirsch where someone asks him "how do you write a compelling mystery??" and he basically says you have to create something that looks like the main mystery.. only to reveal something deeper. I think next chapter we'll learn more about Dess FOR SURE, but I think behind her disappearance there will be something much bigger. For instance, what happened to the OTHER missing residents?? Like Onion for example, who said they'd "meet us tomorrow" in chapter 2, and hasn't been seen since (a character who also happens to live in the lake, cough cough). but im just going on a tangent LOL all I'm basically trying to say here is that yes. I agree. Dess is super interesting and I think her whole disappearance opens a Pandora's box within Deltarune.
