So you're telling me that songs like Swim and Hooligan were supposed to have more elaborate choreographies, that the members wanted more elaborate choreographies, were asking for it, were frustrated by the lack of it and when they voiced their concern BSH "stepped in directly and made the decision to reset everything – to discard all existing choreography drafts" and that the "choreography was revised to such a minimal level that it almost felt as though there was none" ?
You're telling me that "the members questioned this approach, asking whether it truly reflected BTS" and that it took two weeks for the members to give in and go along with it or as it was lovely phrased for them to "begin to fully understand" ?
Now I'm thinking back to Jimin dreaming while stuck in military about what songs he was gonna sing and what performances he was gonna have and how excited he was to be on stage again. All that dreaming only for him to have to hear from a man who never step foot on a stage that "for artists like you, standing still can be more than enough".
Standing still? You want Park Jimin to stand still?!
I need that man in jail. I need that man in jail immediately.
Also I'm heavily side eyeing the section about how he "quite sincerely" asked the members to cancel all their personal schedules after their discharge so they could immediately travel to LA for the song camp. Oh, he tried to phrase it all nice and pretty, talking about how beautiful it is that the members would so readily make that sacrifice but unfortunately for him I've never been the type to think that skipping much needed rest and overworking yourself is an commendable and inspiring thing.
And isn't it interesting that before anyone asked anything of them they had all collectively decided to take time to rest and even already had plans scheduled and only after their boss reminded them of their commitment to the group did they decide to abandon all those plans?
But I'm sure there's nothing off about this because it's not like they feel any sort of obligation to the group that might influence their decision. I mean, this is only the group their company and everyone working there heavily depend on to keep the bills paid. It's only group their fans (who they consistently showed themselves to feel very indebted to) desperately wanted to see again. It's just the group that literally contributes to the GDP of their country. So obviously this is a group they feel absolutely no pressure about and they all just so happend to suddenly realized they didn't really need rest after 18 months of being forced to work in the military. They just had a brief lapse of judgment where they foolishly thought they needed rest but thankfully their famously non-greedy boss helped them remember that they didn't actually. How kind of him!
But when you stop and actually look at it this comeback sure seems to have a whole lot of BSH or other Hybe people convincing the members to do things they originally didn't plan to do or straight up didn't want to do. But I'm sure there's nothing to worry about here.
Also, I can't with the part where he sincerely tries to convince us that the reason they started releasing vinyls it's because vinyls are "a way of engaging with music differently" and "encourage a more intentional, long-term relationship with music – one where it is collected, preserved and experienced more deeply". Sure. Suuure. That's probably why Taylor Swift does it too. How lovely of them. I can't believe people call them greedy, how mean! Those people must just jealous that they're not billionaires like them.
Anyway, that interview just pissed me off and I wanted to rant about it to let the frustration out. But there's nothing I can do about it. The comeback is what the comeback is. I just hope the concert tomorrow doesn't disappoint.
