Jason had wanted to be a cop for as long as he could remember. Ā His father was a police officer and his brother was working toward detective. Ā Jason felt like joining the force was the best way to bring about a positive change in the community; to make sure law abiding citizens were protected and criminals were prosecuted. Ā He passed the fitness test, drug test, and civil service tests with exemplary marks⦠but the personality component of his tests revealed something unexpected. Ā Jason was just as surprised as everyone else, but the results were clear: he was tooĀ āpassiveā to join the force. Ā No matter how many tests they gave or how many ways they interpreted the results, the results were the same. Ā As one officer put it:Ā āitās right there in black and white, heās just not man enoughā. Ā Jason was devastated. Ā Thatās when his fatherās partner stepped in with a unique advice.
The partner knew of an elite unit that Jason might qualify for. Ā It was a well kept secret, but he had a contact he could talk to on Jasonās behalf. Ā Jason was ecstatic that he might have a chance to make a difference after all! Ā Within two weeks heād been accepted into the NYPDās Special Criminal Rehabilitation Unit or SCRU. Ā He signed his contract without even looking at the details, a mistake he deeply regrets. Ā The first few days of training seemed innocent enough: he learned he would be helping to rehabilitate criminals by providing unique psychotherapy that would increase their sympathy, compassion, and responsibility. Ā But when he received his uniform of a simple T shirt, a pacifier, and a pack of thick colorful adult diapers he realized just what that meant. Ā
For the next five years, almost 24/7, he would be an adult sized baby for felons to take care of. Ā He would be spoon fed mush in high chairs and then be expected to nurse a bottle for every meal. Ā He would take daily naps and sleep nightly in a crib with a blanket and stuffed animal. Ā He would be dressed in whatever hisĀ ācare giversā decided to dress him in, and of course he would be expected to use his diapers. Ā He would helplessly wet and mess himself and depend on felons to pick him up, put him on a changing table, remove his dirty diaper, wipe him clean and powder him, and finally change him into a clean diaper. Ā He would be expected to frequently cry so that criminals could learn to soothe him with a pacifier or by picking him so that he could cling to their neck while he rested his diapered butt on their arm and they patted his back. Ā He would also be expected to act out so that criminals could discipline him with bare bottomed over the knee spankings. Ā The idea was that criminals could learn compassion and responsibility by raising a child, but of course they couldnāt be trusted with an actual baby, so a cop would have to be specially trained to fill the role. Ā Jason wanted to back out but his family, not knowing the details of his SCRU tasks, pressured him to remember how he vowed to be a positive change in the community. Ā After training he reported to work, crinkling and waddling down to the special wing of the police station, thinking the only change heād be a part of was a humiliating diaper changeā¦
