Diavolo and Trish in the Dragon AU
Devilhorns are a family of bipedal True Dragons with grand horns, furry manes, and pointed tails who live in extreme environments.
Unlike other volcanic dragons, the Crimson Devilhorn is found nesting directly in the crater of an active volcano, living amongst bubbling lava and scorching temperatures. Because of their habitat, they have a unique copper-based fire they get from gnawing on ore to sharpen their teeth.
These dragons’ temperates can be scaled from sassy to tyrannically entitled. They will defend their territories and occasionally fly from their volcanoes to take others’ territories, despite their ecological niche being solely to live in volcanoes and compete there. They’re just power tripping; sometimes they’ll bully other dragons into obeying them.
Males are generally a much deeper shade of red than females, though females tend to be much faster at both running and flying.
The Crimson Devilhorn has been known to prey on other dragons in times of food droughts, much like related species. 100% carnivorous.
Ramlike horns that curl around the sides of the skull. Smaller protruding spikes lining the head. Rusty-red.
A thick mane of hairs that can range from pink to dark purple. These hairs can stand on end to make themselves look bigger. The mane continues until their tail.
Thick, lava-proof scales that are generally some shade of red. Eyes are always green.
Pointed tails that can be used like a whip. Spikes on their narrow wings.
A truly awe-inspiring roar, deep and bellowing that can carry for miles.
Fire is bright green from the copper they accidentally ingest.
Flight Behavior: They’re more adept to terrestrial life hence why they’re bipedal, so they have to beat their wings constantly even after taking a running start. Much better at running.
Nesting behavior: A single egg is laid directly on coals or warm volcanic rocks where it incubates. Usually dens are caves dug out on the side of the volcano’s crater. The mother is the only one who raises the hatchling, though very rarely the father will as well.
