ok this might be a stretch but I think it’s cute so whatever

i like to imagine that gary struggles with falling asleep and is just restless at night, while on the other hand, jimmy sleeps like a baby.

so one night, unable to fall asleep, gary visits jimmy’s room, expecting him to be awake, and maybe a victim of that same restlessness. when he sees jimmy sleeping, his initial response is to wake him up and fuck with him, but he resists and sits down in a chair at jimmy’s desk. he watches jimmy with a slight envy and eventually falls asleep himself. when he wakes up, jimmy’s left the room and there’s a spare blanket that’s been placed over gary’s body. after that day, gary started getting better sleep lol (not a complete 180 tho) + also gary kept the blanket and never gave it back.

actually to expand on this idea: i think the way that they show affection towards each other is through quality time or fighting each other lmfao. after watching donnie darko for the third or fourth time, i will say that life is strange is very clever in it's references to its inspiration. things like the deer, the perverted icon, and the troubled teenager being the trigger of the "end of the world." although i do like donnie a lot more than i do chloe and the game and film are very different works in their own right, this rewatch gave me a greater appreciation for the first game that i didn't have before. shoutout life is strange! and shoutout jake gyllenhaal!
