It was the shock of the whole thing that had Diego frozen in place for just a few seconds, buffeted back and forth by the people who were scrambling for safety. His brain seemed to finally catch up with what was going on and just as Diego had turned to run out the door, someone seized him by the wrist. It made him tense briefly, at least until he turned and recognized the woman. “Yes. Yeah. I understand.” Diego gave a somewhat jerky nod.
Diego was usually very capable of handling himself in a stressful situation, considering that he’d been through more than a few in his forty three years. Being fairly level headed during times of crisis had gotten him out of a couple of scrapes or so he liked to think. For some reason, however, he’d been frozen in place for a minute when the chaos started -- not exactly a good thing to do, considering he’d been relatively close to the fire at the time. It had taken someone knocking him slightly off balance to get Diego to move, sprinting out the doors and toward the safety of the forest. He hovered near a group of fellow subs, the gardener’s gaze fixed on the burning building.
“Well, shit.” Diego muttered, one hand moving up to roughly push through his hair, trying to decide if he should run back and offer to help somehow. Just as he’d been about to do just that, a familiar face caught his eye and Diego turned to walk toward the other man instead. Mateo. “Hey. Kind of crazy, huh? You alright?”

Diego was born in San Francisco to a decent sized family, his father one of two subs that was with his mom. He had two older siblings that his mother and father had together and one younger half sibling. They were a very tight knit family, though Diego and his siblings were primarily raised by Diego’s father, Adam, and his mother’s other submissive, Jeremy, since Trish was usually busy and away with work.
While Diego’s oldest brother and his younger sister took after their mother, Diego and his older sister were both submissives. It was something that he just sort of accepted about himself growing up, but by the time that Diego hit eighteen, he began to resent that part of himself a bit. Diego started working at Rosewood as a gardener about four years ago. It was partly due to wanting to get away from a relationship with a dom that had fallen apart fairly quickly.
