Another picture of Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico, but this is a weird one. The building in Viejo San Juan are famous for their bright colors, as you can see here, but what you are looking at is the thinnest building in the entire city. I have no idea why it was designed this way and who would live in a tiny place like this, but I think it’s unique. Whoever lives inside must be cramped, though, but maybe it’s bigger on the inside. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

When I last came to Puerto Rico with my family, we spent a day visiting my dad’s sister and decided to visit the home they grew up in Ponce. This was the first time I ever saw this place. I remember my dad telling me how he would play soccer with his family and friends in the yard, and I can vividly see that here. He told me that he could smell his mother’s cooking right outside the front yard while they played and would come running once it was ready. I never got to taste my grandmother’s cooking, but I’m sure it was delicious. It was nice seeing where my dad grew up, especially with the nice view of the mountains from the backyard.

Night life is the best life! Here in the streets of Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico, the streets are filled with booming music from the bars and the different smells of foods from all kinds of restaurants, including Pirilo Pizza Rustica. It may seem strange that I am promoting a pizza joint in a Hispanic rich island, but hear me out. They have an amazing list of appetizers, some of my favorites being these spinach empanadillitas and croquetas filled with Puerto Rican style rice, beans, and chorizo. And their carbonara pizza is to die for! If you ever find yourself in Viejo San Juan and in the mood for pizza, go find this place!

Of all the countless vacations I spent going to Puerto Rico with my family, this was the first time I have ever been to Cabo Rojo. This picture was taken at the southwest point of the entire island. Up there on the cliffside, the breeze was strong and lovely, especially after a fun at the beach down the trail. I won’t lie, I was kind of terrified being so close to the edge, but it made for a nice profile picture. My father even told me that he and his friends took a picture on the next cliff behind me when he was younger. It’s a perfect spot to hang out, have fun in the beach below, and even catch the sunset.

This picture was taken on a hike through the El Yunque National Rainforest in Puerto Rico. Whenever my family and I visit family on the island, we always make it a tradition to go on a hike through El Yunque and find a natural pool with a waterfall to go for a swim. Every time I go, I am just amazed by scenery such as this. The atmosphere is always cool and refreshing, especially since this spot was up in the mountains. Not to mention, since we came during winter vacation, the water was freezing! Needless to say, if you ever decide to go to Puerto Rico, plan a trip to El Yunque and go for a hike. You won’t be disappointed.
