JUDE.
“ — yeah. cool.” his gaze lingered momentarily on the other boy, before he cast him a quick flash of white teeth, busying himself with the noisy espresso machine. it only took him a few short time to finish, even with the unfortunate distraction of being unable to tear his eyes away from the blond for minutes at a time. eventually sliding back to the edge of the counter, he handed over the paper cup, ‘able’ scribbled hastily on the side. “maybe i’ll think about it,” jude offered up a glint of his eyes, and a teasing smirk. “depends if i want to hear you butcher any more good songs.” he let out a quiet laugh, drowned out by the chatter of the café. “i guess i’ll see you later, then.”
abel tentatively reached out to grab his cup, far more distracted by the boy’s smile than anything else. he just smiled back faintly in response to jude’s joke, simply shaking his head. “ we try, okay, we try, ” he chuckled quietly, as his hands wrapped around the warm cup. “ uh, yeah. see you later. ” it was only hen he walked out that his eye caught the name on the side of his cup, making him stop dead in his tracks for a second, frowning, before talking one last confused glance at the barista.
he found himself back inside of that coffee shop at eight that night, sitting down on one of the seats nearby the stage where his bandmates were setting up their instruments. he simply scrolled through his phone, replying to the text he had received from one of his siblings, as his eyes travelled up to see the same barista as that afternoon. and he couldn’t help but let his glance linger a little longer than he should.
