We know that you love Arielle more than just a friend
Do I? Am I the only one who doesnât know that yet?Â
âWeeeeeell, winning wasnât really my goal here,â Augustin laughed softly and moved his hand to ruffle Arielleâs hair. âI just wanted to see your beautiful smile!â he added with a grin. âSo I kinda did win!â
âHey! No! Itâs still wet!â she complained, grabbing his hand from her damp hair. âYouâre such a nerd, you idiot. Fine. If you truly believe you've gained something from it, then I'm only happy to deliver.â
âI better take my phone out of the pocket then!â Gus stuck his tongue out at Arielle and rolled his eyes playfully, his feet still swinging in the water. âThe most obvious one apparently,â he replied with a chuckle and nodded. âThe corner of the room, behind that giant old bookcase is the best â you see everyone but no one can see you,â he added with a smile. Then a smile turned into a small smirk when he began taking his clothes off and jumped into the water. âLetâs race! The loser buys the other coffee for the rest of the week!â he grinned and began swimming.
âIâve never actually considered that. It does sound like a very relaxing and peaceful place, especially since you wonât be having eyes on you at all times,â she smiled, nodding at his words. âJust be glad coach isnât here or you would be in so much trouble, Savoie!â she threatened. âOh when itâs coffee, itâs so on!â she affirmed in determination. Diving under the water, Arielle swam in strong and even strokes. Catching up to the boy easily.
Rora pushed her hair back with her hands, a nervous tic she had, before reaching down to give her sisterâs hand a small squeeze. âI know I donât, but I also know that you have to practice.â Rora replies and lets out a small sigh, her shoulders slumping down in exhaustion and nodded her head. âCan we? That sounds really nice.â
âIâll be all right. Hard work pays off, right? I believe Iâll be able to take the rest of it off to spend some quality time with my little CareBear,â she smiled, squeezing her sisterâs hand back. âWe can, of course. Anything youâd like. Just get me my towel and Iâll be out in a bit.â
âItâs okayâ She smiled and sat down beside the pool side, crossing her legs so they didnât get in the water, but tugging her dress down to keep her decency. âThatâs fineâ She watched the girl âDid you want to grab dinner instead? My treat?â She suggested with another wide smile.Â
âI would love that,â she started, sending the girl a relieved smile. âBut donât you think it should actually be my treat? Considering I kind of blew you off. It was really uncool of me.â
River nodded and quickly picked up the book sheâd dropped before flipping back up to face the older girl. âYes!â She breathed out, embarrassed and a little overwhelmed. âSure.. Sorry.. Did you want it now? Iâm just about to head back to my room?â
âWell, whenever I can. If youâre preoccupied, then I wonât rush you,â she mentioned, smiling gently at the other girl.
Ade floated for a while and swam up to sit beside the other girl âI needed to clear my head, and sometimes swimming does thatâ She shrugged âItâs sucking ass right now. Coach is killing me. What about you? How are all your teams?â
âThatâs basically why I joined the swim team,â she responded with a small chuckle. Floating next to her. âYouâre not the only one. It doesnât look like the coaches at the basketball and lacrosse teams are giving them a good time,â she remarked. âItâs going swimmingly, no pun intended. Things are a lot better now that everyone has gotten into shape, sort of.â
âYouâre lateâ
Gabrielle sighed loudly, only to make the girl feel more uncomfortable, she was about to answer but the brunette in front of her begged her to let her explain. âIâm listeningâ She only stated, judging the student from head to toe. Like half of the students here, she looked smart and a bit stressed out about studies. She could tell she really felt bad about missing the class, and it seemed she would do anything to be forgiven.Â
Grabbing a pen from the desk, she toyed with it, starring at it intensely as she mulled on the situation. Obviously the young woman in front of her was desperate, and wasnât lying, you could feel that kind of things. On the other hand, most of the others coaches or professors missed to spread the news about their new Art teacher. After all, Gabrielle received an emergency call from the Hawthorne, asking her to start in a few. Which she did.Â
She furrowed her brows, tilting her head âDid I miss your name, Miss?â Obviously she didnât. âListen to me. My class is not mandatory, itâs an extra one, just like it used to be for years. But if you intend to join it for fun, youâd rather give up now. if you canât find compromises between your activities and your classes, that means you have others prioritiesâ.Â
âItâs Arielle- uhm, Greenwood,â she spoke, nodding at the woman. âAnd I fully and completely understand what you mean. I understand that it must be tedious to experience students dumping into class when itâs practically finished,â she answered, biting her bottom lip as she thought of a way to make it up to her. âIs there anything I can to gain some sort of extra credit? I wouldnât have joined the class if I wasnât interested in learning or participating. There must be some sort of thing I can do to actually stay in the class,â she spoke. Arielle could sense that there would be no point in arguing with her. In this debate, Miss Kennedy was the one who held all the cards. She was the one who could determine if she had any future in this class.
Ryan winced at her, as he learnt they couldnât really go out besides bonfires and that kind of parties. âWell, thatâs it at least? Weâre here to studyâ He sighed then scratched the back of his arm with a nod, listening a short list of films she enjoyed. One of them caught his attention and replied her quickly, not really getting her question in the first place. âHum, why would you be pretentious? Because you love good movies? Most of them won Oscars or awards, so a lot of people are pretentious thinking they were worth their votes too. Well, letâs be both pretentious then? Because Dead poets Society is my favorite movie of all the time!â He grinned, happy to find someone into this as well. âMostly because Iâm very passionate about poetry in general, guilty pleasure i guessâ He stood a bit embarrassed to admit it, but he was used to getting laughed at it. âRobin Williams was amazing, I truly had a hard time convinced myself such a brilliant actor had to leave.â he sighed, his look lost. âThey also took a lot of Walt Wiltmanâs poems, which make it even greaterâ. He tilted his head, thinking of something. âBy the way, which makes me think,  there was this author, Sylvia Plath, she wrote poetry and one of her book was tilted âArielââ he smiled lightly âShe was an avant-garde feminist, and her writing is very powerful to be honestâ Suddenly Ryan rose his brows and shook his head âCome on! Iâm not saying iâm ugly. But donât girls like well shaved guys who wear white shirts and moccasins with a little cocky side? What Iâm saying is, Iâm not that type. And using the âunique wordâ⊠doesnât make it really creepy. it can be good or bad way.â
A huge grin appeared on her lips. âNo way! Itâs actually my favourite as well. Back in Seattle my twin sister and I used to watch it on repeat. All the characters in it just seemed to fascinate me, itâs incredible to see some people have such a romantic perspective on life,â she spoke, completely surprised by Ryanâs interests. Poetry was a wonderful thing, but she hadnât considered him being into that. It was interesting to see how people could surprise and appearance could fool. âWhoâs your favourite poet?â she inquired, intrigued. âItâs too bad about Robin Williams, yeah. I was a bit devastated when I heard the news, it was kind of like losing somebody who had been close to me. It probably has something to do with watching a lot of the films he starred in and all,â she explained. At the mention of Sylvia Plath, she nodded at his words. âCanât say Iâve read it. Is it any good? I only read The Bell Jar.â Arielle laughed a little at his statement about femalesâ interests as she shook her head at him. âDifferent girls have different types and interests in guys! Weâre not all into model-looking guys. Besides, are there actually girls who are into guys wearing moccasins?â she asked, looking humorously at him.
Ryan hesitated to help her get out of the water, but she was apparently an expert. He also wondered how she was not freezing every time, because even if the place was warming, the contrast between inside and out was pretty harsh, at least to him. âHum, yeah, it was great, slightly painful in the end, like why the girl has to die, seriously? But I enjoyed the writing, reallyâ He rolled his eyes playfully then rose a brow âHey, I didnât mean to interrupt you, I was just stopping by, you can still keep going⊠whatever your were doing in hereâ he smiled âSure, sureâ he executed himself, putting the book next to her stuff and handed her the towel. He figured out he was right, he was a bit cold himself and though wasnât wet at all. âSo tell me, thatâs where you spend most of your time? I donât get it, isnât it a bit boring? Donât get me wrong, I love swimming and water but I couldnât stand staying inside, I love ocean too much.âÂ
âThatâs literature, I suppose. Thereâs always a reason for everything, even certain deaths. Though, they can be quite tragic,â she spoke. Smiling as he offered her the towel, drying herself off before wrapping it around her shoulders. âPracticing. And nah, I was wrapping it up anyway,â she mentioned. Arielle chuckled a little at his question, shaking her head at him. âIf I had a penny for how many times Iâve received that question, I would be rich. Itâs calming, actually. Your mind is focused on something else and you sort of forget the struggles of life, as you can put it. I know what you mean though. Personally, I prefer the ocean as well. Itâs free, but to be I consider the ocean to be more for floating and having fun, whereas I see the pool as a place to practice. Unless you crash it at night and bring out the slide and the water mattresses.â
It's prom time: who do you take with you? And why?
Iâm not that big a fan of proms. I like the parties and dressing up is fun and everything, but after a couple of hours I get antsy by my dress, shoes and makeup. Besides, Iâd rather like to go with a group of friends than just one partner. Group arrangements are usually more entertaining, if you ask me.
âYou scared me!â River turned around quickly and squeaked as she quickly clasped her hands together âCan I help you?âÂ
"Iâm so sorry, River!" Arielle exclaimed. "I was just wondering if you still had that book you offered to lend me? I kind of need to put my mind elsewhere from school, practice and everything."
âIâve just been looking for you.. We had plans to go for coffee at lunch.. And.. You didnât showâ River blushedÂ
âOh, Iâm so sorry, River! I completely forgot. Iâve just been a little preoccupied with practice since tournaments are coming up soon. I just finished my last lap. If youâre not busy, we can still go for that coffee after dinner? If youâre free and still want to, that is.â
