So, I’m a bit of an angst gremlin, and I kinda wish that if you passed out in the mines, your spouse would say something about it, like “I heard Linus found you! What happened?! Are you ok?!” That sorta deal. How would the bachelors (and bachelorettes if your not too busy) react to hearing that the farmer got hurt in the mine and was found by someone else?
Angst gremlin meets angst goblin. I cried while writing this don’t hate me. (also I wrote it as things I’d imagine them saying in-game)
“Oh y/n I’m so glad you’re okay! I heard they found you unconscious but I guess you’re too strong to be hurt so badly!”
Alex hides his nervousness with humor, trying to make light of the situation as if you didn’t just risk dying.
He even tries to get you to train with him, so you can get stronger and be better prepared for your future expeditions.
He’s just worried for you. And he knows he can’t stop you, so the best he can do is make sure you can protect yourself.
“Are you okay?? I heard about what happened and I got so worried! Shouldn’t you be resting right now?”
He takes care of all the things on the farm. If you even try to get up from the bed he promised he’d bash your head with his guitar.
He eventually calls some friends for help, because he knows you’re stubborn and will be up on your feet the next day, and he wants to make sure you work as little as possible.
“I know I’m the last person who should say “don’t engage in dangerous behavior” but... That was pretty reckless of you. Don’t you think it’s better to run away than risk dying?”
Oh boy he’s mad. Like really, really furious.
He knows you know what you’re doing, and that scares him because you’re capable, so if you came that close to dying... He doesn’t want to finish that thought.
He goes away to brood for the entire afternoon. In the evening he’ll just hug you and not say a word.
“I know the mines were perilous, but to be hurt this badly... You’d be a fool to go underprepared in them again.”
He brings you home and treats your wounds, trying to understand where they come from and how you got them. He wants to make sure he knows how to take care of you.
This had happened before. It will happen again and hopefully it won’t be worse than this.
He doesn’t know what he’s feeling. A bad mixture of sadness, anger and fear.
He knows he could have lost you. He still doesn’t like it.
When you come home he lets you snuggle with him, and he hugs you a bit tighter than usual, still not saying a word.
He’s had enough of people leaving his life. He doesn’t want you to be the next one.
“... please don’t give me a scare like that ever again. I don’t want to have to patch you up another time...”
He doesn’t cry in front of you. He can’t do that to you.
He knows he can’t stop you from going in the mines, you need the materials you get there. It still doesn’t make it easier.
When he sees you again, he makes you promise to stop by the clinic before you go in the mines, so he can give you supplies to not die in there.
“You know the mines are dangerous, why would you be so careless? Think about all the people you leave behind next time you go in and maybe you won’t have so much of a death wish!”
She’s so mad she lashes out without thinking and runs away to the mountains, to play some tunes to calm down.
She’s usually the one that patches you up when you come back from mining, so she knows the kind of trouble you get into. She did not expect you to get so reckless this time.
When she gets home she makes you promise to get out of whatever big fight you’d get into, it’s not worth your life.
“Oh, dear. They really did a number on you this time. I’ll take care of things for a while okay? I’ll go start the water for your bath.”
She’s not so worried, not because she’s oblivious, more like she has faith you’ll always come home.
She also knows you have to get into the mines unless you want to buy Clint’s overprices ores (and though she can get discounts simply by bringing Emily with her when she goes shopping, it’s still annoying).
The best she can do is make sure next time you go in you have extra supplies and a good sword and take care of things for you.
“Oh, y/n! What happened? Why are you all bloody? Did Dr Harvey see you yet? We have to get you healed!”
She gets so worked up seeing you hurt it’s moving.
Really, she thinks you’re an idiot for rushing in without proper equipment, but she can’t really do anything about it now.
The next day you see her at your doorstep with a small refrigerator, “full of supplies for your next adventure. I don’t want to see you getting hurt like that ever again, got it?”
“You are an idiot. Now come here, you have to change your bandages.”
She’s so used to this that she has a basket full of medical supplies: bandages made from clothing scraps, disinfectant, band-aids, some medicine Harvey gave her...
It’s sad that she has to do this, but at the very least she’s glad she’s there to help and you’re not on your own.
She’ll always hate to see you go in the mines, and she can’t sit still until she sees you again.
“... You have no idea what it’s like, being on the other side of the operating table, do you?”
Maru learned about it when she saw you coming in just as she was about to finish her shift at the clinic.
She aided Harvey as he treated you, and she was immensely glad for the doctor’s help. It was... an experience to watch you unconscious. Plugged into IVs. Almost lifeless.
When she gets home she already has a couple of ideas for new armor she can make you. If she can’t stop you, she will make sure you’re well-protected.
“I know I can’t stop you... but at least next time tell me when you’re going so I can help you prepare better... and myself.”
She really wishes you’d tell her when you leave for the mines. She knows you don’t because she’ll worry, but at least she can expect to see you coming home hurt and battered.
You know she’ll never admit it, but she is a stress-baker, and in an attempt to “aid your recovery” she’d make you mini poppyseed muffins to eat as you watch movies cuddled on the bed.
Of course, it’s also a way for her to reassure herself, holding you close to her. Feeling your heartbeat to make sure you’re still alive.
