for someone learning multiple languages I sure am scared of talking to native speakers of those languages
Okay so I read In Cold Blood and my teacher was like “why does it have a quote from ballade des pendus at the beginning” and now I’m out here like “oh so you WANT me to do an entire essay about this instead of the actual book?? ok” and I love that for me
could I do my missing work? yes, OR I could translate a song and provide an analysis if it absolutely NOBODY asked for,,,,, one of these is much more fun and what I’m probably gonna do
un bonbon? pour vous? non.
nothing compares to the unbridled rage of asking your teacher how to conjugate apprendre for past tense only for her to say to pick another word because you haven’t learned it yet,,, please,,,, tell me how to conjugate it I just want to use the word. How am I supposed to say I learned something if you won’t tell me how to conjugate it :,(
it’s all fun and games with language learning until you have a crisis in the middle of a mall because despite being in a fucking Macy’s at two pm on a Saturday you think they are playing a song in French because instead of “come home” (or something I don’t remember) you heard “chez vous” which admittedly isn’t that far off but then it went right back to you hearing English lyrics so you’re left confused while your family is around you like “dude wtf”
My mom: you're learning another new language?? 3 isn't enough for you?
Me: *scoffs*

-!!! Finally finished the Hangul video that I’ve been watching for the past few days, I feel a little more confident now. If I just learn vocab now it’ll be a couple of months until I can read it fairly reliably which is very hype
-Did an assignment about passé composé, don’t have time or energy to read tho lol
-This was last night but it counts because time is an illusion: I wrote a little bit in Japanese. It was way harder than I thought it would be, the keyboard is inconvenient, plus searching for kanji is painful. I need to improve my typing speed and vocabulary so it takes less time. -Finished the foods category, should be done with level two by Sunday :)
i don’t study to be smarter i study because it’s my personality and i don’t have anything else going for me

-Studied a little bit of Korean, I want to be able to read Hangul sort of okay by the end of the week, then I can start on vocab and grammar, alphabet comes first haha.
-Read some more of L’école des femmes- like, two pages but the book is hard, between my admittedly too low level of reading comprehension and the book’s difficulty I think I’m doing okay. I also listened to a bunch of music in French again, I should tell my teacher about the song Les châteux de sable, it goes with what we’re learning in class pretty well.
-I didn’t do any Japanese today, I need to make sure that I continue practicing kanji tomorrow, I saw a couple that I recognized today, though. That’s always fun.
-Duolingo is the only thing keeping me learning Esperanto but that’s okay, I should finish level two by Sunday.
I’m Silk, I’m starting this account after my old blog was inactive for a couple of years to keep myself honest and actually learn the languages I want to! I’m learning French, Japanese, Esperanto, and Korean as an English native speaker, if you have any tips feel free to let me know!
