“Rio’s horrible, no good, terrible day.” || agathario agerefic
— summary: Rio is having a terrible day, what really is the tip of the iceberg? Regressing deeper than she used to, being scared, small, and needy, but Agatha is there to see through her walls and help. (based on this post)
— a/n: this was so fun to write!! i really wanted to mess with a concept of messy crying rio, because we all know she would.
“…Mami, I don’t want a nap! I don’t need a nap, I don’t want, I don’t want!!!” Rio fusses, hot tears welling as a pitiful sob comes out of Rio’s mouth as her long brown hair messily spirals around her face. The younger was sitting in Agatha’s lap, grumpy cheeks puffed out as she huffed deeply, things were not going her way. A soft “shh” escaped Agatha like a lullaby, coming off as gently as Agatha could be, giving her demeanor that was getting a bit difficult for Agatha.
“Roo’, Baby? It’s alright, come on, what’s wrong, you usually don’t fuss like this when it’s time for a nap, my sweet, why are we so grumpy and fussy now huh? Tell Mami, Babygirl…”
Agatha's voice hushed in tone, she had to be calming as she started to pat the grumpy girl’s back more. Rio looked up at her Mami as her face was red and hot from all of the sobbing, her bottom lip jutting out as she sniffled a bit pathetically. Poor baby looked like a wet cat left in the rain from how hard she was crying.
How could Rio explain her horrible, no good, terrible day! It wasn’t even three o’clock yet and she was so upset!
The day first started with no Agatha in bed, which of course wasn’t a big deal, Agatha was grabbing groceries before the early rush, she had already told Rio that before going to bed last night! It was when Agatha came back— that she asked help for with the groceries, and with how Rio’s is she was always going to come first to help her girlfriend… especially with bugger items, so she insisted on carrying the watermelon— just for it to go SPLAT on her feet after tripping on the floor tiles!
“Stupid fuckin’ Melon.” This is all Rio could muster at the time to keep her from regressing.
Then, when trying to clean up, flies kept flying over the poured fruit, buzzing annoyingly in her ear, of course at first it wasn’t too annoying— but then, that’s ALL she could hear, it drove her crazy over the edge overstimulating, she was a strong girl, it wasn’t that serious, she couldn’t make it serious…
What made it worse was when she felt the fuzziness, it started creeping up on her at lunchtime, but she didn’t wanna be little— not today, she wanted to stay big, stay responsible, and stay good. She didn’t feel good, she felt like a big burden to her girlfriend, a big burden to her Mami…
Then over the tip of the Iceberg, she regressed… and she was dropped hard. Agatha of course, rushed over to calm her down, knowing her baby was going to regress any day now after a while, and of course with that, Rio isn’t the happiest.
“…..Bad.. bad day, ba-bad Rio, Too.. too small, mmm…!!!!” Rio said her eyes sputtering out with tears as she was being bounced on Agatha’s leg, the older frowning as she pulled the strings of Rio’s hair out of her face to get a better look at her baby girl. “I don’t want a nap, I-I don’t want to be… a burden…” Rio sobbed out those last words that quite literally made Agatha’s heart shatter into a million pieces.
Rio started punching the pillows of the couches, frustrated with so many thoughts but so many tiny feelings. Agatha quickly, but steadily, grabbed Rio’s fists and gently set them in her lap as Rio struggled and fussed, hot angry tears still pouring, her baby was so frustrated, she could tell. Her eyes were baggy, and her lip was jutted out, this really was going south for Rio.
So then Agatha did the only thing she could think to do. She started pushing Agatha into a firm embrace, patting her back with soft circles all over, whispering soft things like, “Shhh… it’s okay.. c’mon baby girl it’s okay…” The older’s leg still bouncing as she could hear Rio still fussing, but her frustration slowly left her, Rio naturally tiring herself out to have to calm down, and so the sobbing girl did.
“Mami’s gonna start talking okay, Roo’…” Agatha starts off her sentence carefully to which Rio replies with a small shutter breath, followed by a loud sniffle and aggressively rubbing her runny nose.
“You are never my burden baby.. you're my girl, you're my light, and I love everything you do, and that includes every part of you…” Agatha spoke, the rubbing of Rio’s back continuing. “You could never be a burden, you are nothing close to that. For you to even let me take care of you is something I will always wanna do, you’re my baby, babygirl…” Agatha said before letting Rio lift her head and the two stared at each other.
Rio yawned tiredly the tears stopping but her breath still hitching every second, and her lip quivering with no control. It looked like Rio understood a part of what Agatha said, but Agatha could already tell, her baby was so itty bitty.
“Honey, are you really little? Can you show me how many fingers you are?” Agatha asked sweetly as Rio stared back a little blankly, sniffling a little more as the younger messily wiped her nose.
Agatha crooned slightly as her eyes softened at Rio’s appearance. Her soft doe eyes droopy, her nose runny, and her face in a soft round pout, which Agatha knows what is needed is a nice long nap, so then Agatha sighed and held her baby tight, rocking her ever so slightly, which Rio allowed.
“Does my baby want a nap now..?”
