Sorry for the lack of pics, but we’ve been busy. Biggest thing is - we moved to a new place! Which means lots more room for us, and much better ambient lighting for Digit. She is pretty confused still, just moved her in yesterday, but she seems to have relaxed a bit. Still didn’t like me picking her up though XD

Took some snaps to show a friend (sorry for some blurryness, hard to take pics with one hand) and realized I had a good comparison to how little she was way back when! 

It’s been 5 wonderful years with my lizard dorter so far, and I look forward to many more!

A story of a lizard and shedding

Oh - also after I put up the sign on her tank and people stopped feeding her snacks, she very quickly stopped making a mess of her tank, like I knew she would.

After a few bad days I finally had the spoons to reorganize Digit’s tank! She’s calmed down now from her spring fever, and I decided to go all out. 

Found the perfect broad low box the depth of her tank to use for her basking spot - which I moved to the opposite side for some enrichment - and brought out her old favorite tall stand. Also left some spaces she’d need to climb to so the toad might actually have to exercise a little XD I wish I was able to bridge the gap between the lowest and highest without needing extra box supports, but maybe she’ll actually explore and use them.

However though she usually seems to enjoy it when I mix things up in her tank, this time... she very much did not. One very confused and dark beardie crammed herself in a corner and huffed at me every time I peeked at her. I’m leaving her be till she calms down enough to get back to exploring.

So far the sign has been working! So I haven’t had to get a lock, thankfully. 

Just a little bit of inconspicuous shaming can sometimes do the trick that asking them politely does not XD

TFW you come down and not only discover your lizard made an absolute disaster of her tank - she moved her rock! how on earth did she move her rock?? - 

it’s likely that your mother in law is inadvertently teaching your lizard that making noise/messing up her tank = being fed bugs

because the bug bag wasn’t tied carefully like I always tie it, and the feeding prongs were messy and out of place. which also means she was likely fed bugs without them being dusted. And feeding sneaky bug treats means she won’t eat her greens like she’s supposed to.

Digit's awake!

Well. Not right now, but she was! Woke up on her own. Took it as a sign and ordered this year's new uv bulb, hope it comes soon!

nother update: digit’s well asleep in brumation, so i wont get to see her till either february or april, we’ll have to see what she decides on next year!!
