What is your headcanon for those purple marks on rin's cheeks?

Well, as simple as it may sound, I really believe Rin's markings are solely for decoration purposes, like for example how soldiers do the same to themselves. I don't think there's a deeper reason for her markings and if there is, there's not much information that can lead to that so for the time being, I think her markings are just that, for decoration.
