“I will turn this land into a Paradise!”
It’s been months since the Comet of Ahnket has been averted, and the faerie leaders of Telara have received a report of rather puzzling happenings back home: something or someone was disturbing the ecological balance of the planet, spawning life where it should not be.
Inhabitants from many areas of Telara increasingly observed those bizarre events: lush oasi suddenly spawning in the harshest telaran deserts, barren snow tundras sprouting with uncharacteristic tropical plants, saline lakes that turned into mangroves out of nowhere. Heralds also reported that way more Life Rifts than usually expected were tearing through, and hundreds of grotesque beings streamed forth from them from the Plane of Life…

All of this was very strange indeed, and apparently been going unnoticed for some time without Fae leader's highest attention. How, you will ask? Well, if your home planet has a giant comet hurtling towards it, who cares about some flowers growing out of place?
But now, as existential threat was no more, everyone could breathe a sigh of relief and point their eyes back to telaran lands. The Callweddi council had launched an investigation into the disturbances and discovered that the anomalous greening events were caused by a known troublemaker, faerie Onyxshia.
Turns out, in one of her travels Onyxshia has come across a very powerful life staff - the Pylon of Life. Wielder of it gained power to call forth planar energy from the Plane of Life at their whim, so Onyxshia has been running amok, using her new “toy” in the telaran deserts.

Pearl of Shimmersand
The faerie council has called a meeting on floating leaves of the mighty Callweddi village. As usual, things weren’t in agreement, and some even argued in favor of revoking Onyxshia’s Callweddi citizenship. “Deserts should remain deserts, tundra should be snowy and cold! There is beauty to barren zones that should be left as it is!” - argued Queb from the Order of Life Serene. “The intrinsic nature of life is to evolve, to capture new areas! Besides, fruit and meat from the new oasi could feed thouthands of disadvantaged Telarans!” - countered feisty faerie Adansonie from Callweddi, a dimension trader.
Finally, after much deliberation, the council came to the decision: they would give Onyxshia a desert area for her experiments, but under one condition: abundant life from inside should never escape outside its borders.
That area was the Flatyard, an ancient ethian fortress. For years, it was used as a prison for the assortment of telaran thieves, scammers and murderers. After being the stage for Dream Coven’s attempt to summon Lord Arak from the Plane of Water, Flatyard lied empty and decrepit. A distinct whiff of urine permeated the sands inside - hundreds of convicts had been kept there for years… Rumor had it, some sourcestone smugglers had set up shop in the karst caves below the Flatyard, cooking “source powder”.

“This is unfair,” grumbled dismayed Onyxshia as she walked barefoot on the sands of nearby Fortune’s Shore, “for all that I did for Telara I surely deserve this… dirt pile”. Lost in her thoughts, she nonetheless noticed something shiny under the water - turned out, it was a clam with a very unusual, beautiful pearl inside - and a lightbulb idea came into her mind. She will make Flatyard into a blooming oasis and build a home for her and her friends there.
With one wave of Onyxshia’s staff, the sands of Flatyard were cleansed to the purity rivalling faerie sprinkle dust, and became filled with moisture. With another, grass covered everything, and mighty oaks sprouted from the ground - providing cool, relaxing shade among the Shimmersand desert. She then spawned some boggling builders to erect a house inside, according to her design.
With Fae Yule now in full swing, Pearl of Shimmersand opens its doors to the revelers streaming from all of Telara and the Planes. Among the attractions waiting for them are: finest boggling cuisine, exquisite fae wines, pearl-clutching fountain, the most disgusting soup in the world, sourcestone-cooled fridge, Ghar television, magitech stereo system with the latest fae album and even one drunken satyr!
