Good morning, thinking about my favourite scene ever in the time travel fic, where robin (11, strong sense of justice, values his friend) gets upset about finny (11, but also 19, traumatised time-traveller, trying to save the boys) keeping stuff from him and gets jealous that finney is apparently close to vance hopper and never told him

they resolve it at 6 am (because finney can't handle being ignored by robin), curled up in robin's bed before school <3

rly depends on what you're going for and how in depth....

a lot of times I just grab a character and focus on what they're feeling and witnessing, and don't dwell on it too long in case it sounds clunky 💀

if u do want the mechanics of the game itself though (I wrote it out half asleep before remembering I needed to ask what u actually wanted LMAO)

basic barebones -> pitcher steps onto the mound; batter steps upto the plate -> pitcher usually disturbs the mud around their feet to get good grip; batter adjusts their hold on their bat, focusing on the ball, knees slightly bent; catcher, crouched behind batter is watching the pitcher, mostly also giving signs on how the pitcher can throw well (they usually have signs for what kind of ball, fastball, curveball, etc etc) -> pitcher readies self, crowd kinda all takes a breath, batter and catcher tense in expectant stance -> pitcher throws, full body movement: two kinds of loud sounds can happen: batter hitting it (weird, weak thwack sound: possible foul; dull sound would be a less ideal hit, maybe ending up somewhere infield, not rly giving them a chance to run; somewhere outfield, can make it to first or second base; strong, resounding hit, possible homerun or sailing outfield hit that gets them to second or third base) or a loud crack/whump almost of the ball sinking into the catcher's mitt -> if ball is hit, other players on the field might catch it, might not catch it -> repeat like....idk ten times? I forget how many players in a team, before teams switch, other team goes through the same, whoever has the most runs wins

finney might go back in time/go to an alternate universe/find himself in the past through cosmic power but it will never change that he had to lose the ghost boys first to save them, it'll never erase that they died and he couldn't do anything

I always end up thinking about finney who holds so much survivor's guilt after escaping... the trauma of the basement catching upto him (I kinda feel like he either pushes it down/his mind blocks out some parts), and the town actually moving on kinda quickly while he's still mentally stuck in the basement + having absolutely no support system (gwenny doesn't count cuz she's a *child*) means he has no idea how to cope -> the only reason he doesn't go through w anything is because he keeps thinking about how his ghost boys never got the chance to grow up...and in some horrid way he owes it to them to live life...but he's also too affected and traumatised to life "properly" which leads to an awful in between where yeah he's alive but his quality of life is....awful.

I truly think this would become worse when he goes back in time because now they're alive and he has nothing to sustain life....

if there's anything strong-willed finney can do it's have a brain that wipes the slate clean when he can't handle it (possible memory that glitches out every time something reminds him of "the incident^tm"...)
