So I promised a fun post, and here it is! I've spoken a bit to members of our build team. It seems as if most of them were 'in for the ride'. When I recruited them, they joined in for reason they had no other current obligations. Also, it must've seemed interesting to start up a public server. Get your name out, and all. (Please let me know if you happen to be one of our builders, and you feel I'm giving an inaccurate representation.) Unfortunately, it seemed as if things stagnated that direction after a month or so of planning. Several of our builders seem to have left after not too long. Others seem to be popping in every once in a while, only speaking of Kiri if they're asked a question. Planning. Remember that? I said that! And I'll bet you wish to know what we've been planning. Well, I'll get to that. Three, two, one, all that. This summer, the Administration and a few select students (if you'd like to be one, contact me and we can talk) will be working hard(er). This summer, we shall be teaching ourselves build theory. Yes, that sounds a bit goofy. Yes, that sounds a bit cute. Yes, that sounds interesting. But how shall we achieve that? With a plan that's simple in concept, but powerful in execution. Please, let me elaborate: First, we shall find about five top-notch tutorials. They do exist, however they take a bit of finding. Second, we shall go through the first video/document/general lesson in whatever tutorial we deem most promising. After watching, we'll log onto Kiri at practice what we've learned. We'll work through several small builds for a number of hours, dissecting each other's work. We'll work through several small builds for a number of hours, trying to put to practice everything we've learned in our last video/tutorial. Third, repeat this. Every few days, go through the next video in the series. Once we've finished a series, we do the same thing with the next. True, we'll go over subjects. That's fine-- good even. Practice makes perfect if you want it to. Kiri shall become a build team. Once we've fine-tuned our skills, we shall begin to upload our builds to Planet Minecraft. Once we've amassed a decent following, Kiri the server shall open to the public as a build academy. This academy will be open to anyone obsessed enough to convince us they really want to learn.
