I was enchanted to meet you || Declan and Katie
Katie got inside the car, biting her lip as she shrugged slightly after he smiled at him, unsure of why she told him that. It wasn’t like if she wanted him to feel sorry for her, nor to be her therapist, she just somehow managed to trust him fully right after the first time she saw him, his blue eyes were like mirrors to his soul, so pure and precious, it wasn’t too hard to develop a crush on him. She knew she was letting him in too soon, but there was nothing to do about it, he was already too inside of her. When he spoke, the black haired teenage shrugged slightly, gulping harshly. Her past affected her more than she was able to explain, but there was no reason for her to let him know so. That was the way Katie Matlin survived, she’d tell everyone she was fine, she’d pretend that she wasn’t hurt and broken, she’d move on with her life, building another wall after every single wound. That was something she was used to do, to push people away with walls, but somehow Declan had manage to melt every one of them with his blue eyes and his charming ways, fact that frightened Katie, knowing he was dangerous and she could get hurt.
She nodded when Declan mentioned his sister, the thought making Katie sigh deeply. She knew exactly Fiona’s history from Marisol’s mouth. She recalled the day her best friend visited her with a big bowl of ice cream and a juicy gossip about the one and only Fiona Coyne and how after her abusive boyfriend hit her, she started to drink to let everything go. Then, his next worrisome statement, made her look back at him, her eyes wide open as she parked the car in some place near to the airport, her hands shaking. She felt tears starting to form on her eyes as he showed her the marks on his neck, her hands leaving the wheel and placed over his neck and shoulders, shyly brushing the tip of her fingers on the marks, Declan’s secret burning her fingers, her face and her heart. Katie gulped harshly as his soft voice pierced her ears again, unsure of what to say next. “Oh, Declan” she managed to murmured, her burned fingers still brushing his skin as her eyes wandered in between his face and his neck, a couple of tears rolling down her flushed cheeks “You have no idea how greatful I am to the crappy rope’s manufacturers” Katie leaned in, embracing the other teenage’s neck with her arms slightly, worried that her touch would hurt him more. He hugged him uncomfortably for a couple seconds “Promise me you will never do it again” the former soccer star pleased.
Declan wasn't really certain as to how Katie would react to his stark confession. He hadn't really told anyone what he'd done, only family was aware of how he'd attempted suicide. But she looked very sad when he told her, tears in her eyes as she suddenly brought her fingers across his skin. It felt strange, someone touching his rope burn scars, but not necessarily unpleasant. He bit his lip, wanting to laugh a bit at her comment about the rope manufacturer, but he felt like this moment was too serious. They were being honest with each other, both of them had been through some serious experiences, and they could tell each other everything without worrying about judgment. Declan knew that was rare.
He nodded at Katie's plea, hugging her tightly. He hadn't felt that way in a long time, and since meeting Katie he had become even happier than he thought he ever could be. He hadn't liked a girl this much since Holly J, not that he would admit it. "I promise you, I'll never do anything like that again." After the words left his mouth he chuckled awkwardly. "So...breakfast?"
