The more I think about it, the more it feels like I'm never going to have the time and energy I'd need to push this blog into being what it set out to be: a resource for guys who want to learn how to appreciate sex positivity in a non-skeevy way, and how to be an ally to feminism by explaining things in non-threatening, non-academic terms.
I first thought of it when I saw the parade of stories about creeps at cons failing to respect the boundaries of female booth workers and cosplayers, and incidents where creeps would pursue women in venues like cons or other geek-ish spaces. I thought hey, wouldn't it be nice to have a badge or identifier to communicate "I respect you, I'll be an ally if there's a creep, and if you're a creep, you sure as hell don't represent me".
But I'm taking on another personal project. And I'd hoped to get other contributors on board for alternate viewpoints, to create a collective. And that didn't happen - likely because I just didn't have it in me to push this as hard as I could. And I definitely do not have it in me to wade into contentious spaces where people who are on the fence about respectful behavior would benefit from hearing from a voice like this.
I love the writing that I've done here, and I still love the idea. But I just don't have it in me to give it what it needs. If there's someone out there, somewhere, who wants to take over the reigns, please reach out to me via [email protected]. I'd hate for the domain to lapse and turn into some sort of porn blog.
