No title, I don’t want one

Today, the duality of being Black and gay is sometimes challenging and heavy for me— On one end, there are times I don’t even feel welcomed amongst the black community because I’m not black enough or people say I act “white”. Then there are times I’m told that my skin is too dark, which weighed heavy on me from such a young age to my early adult hood. Thankfully I’m reminded on a daily basis that black is beautiful. When I see people like Issa Rae, Lupita Nyong’o, Viola Davis, Trevante Rhodes, Kofi Siriboe, and Donald Glover, it’s a reminder that black isn’t just the color that’s put in the back of the crayon box. On the other end, I’ve given up on trying to find my place in the gay community. From what I’ve seen and experienced, It’s a community that only loves the IDEA of inclusiveness. I once asked a very popular gay underwear company why they didn’t have any black or Asian models and their response was something like “because we have a very specific clientele”, that stung big time. At this point I’m pretty much just rambling now but I hope to always have a heart that is kind and inclusive. That I never make anyone feel left out or unloved. I believe that everyone is special. Not in a way that says “I’m entitled” but in a way that says “you don’t have to do anything extraordinary to be loved”
