I've been wrestling with myself over this question for a while and I want ur opinion

Here's the setup:

It's been several months, maybe a year, since the Halloween party.

The events of The Play/The Pitiful Children never happened, COULD happen (in the future) but haven't yet; meaning Jeremy hasn't Squipped anyone else, but he is still Squipped, and wants to keep his Squip.

Do you think (if presented with the perfect opportunity) Michael would've forced Squipped-Jeremy to drink the Mountain Dew Red IF Jeremy had NEVER asked for his help?

halfway through making this i realized i hated the paneling, the coloring, the idea didn't work, and Michael looked too inconsistent between each drawing, and,, yeah tldr: i realized im never gonna gonna finish it, but as a tribute to all the effort ive already put in, im showing u guys anyway

if it's not clear this takes place somewhere after Upgrade. Michael's caught between being angry that Jeremy's ignoring him, and also having a weird hunch that something's up with this Squip thing,, and that maybe he should look into it,,,

I can't draw for the life of me but need to. Anyway I've been thinking about this au @disarays introduced to me and Jeremy and Michael trying to talk about everything that's going on but it's more like Michael is trying to talk but Jeremy just wants to wallow in self pity you feel

okok one more drawing idea: picture an alternate universe where Michael and Jeremy drift apart after the Squip fiasco. One day, Jeremy is walking down his college campus when he gets a streetpass notification from the Nintendo 3ds in his pocket. It's pretty rare these days, so naturally, he *has* to check it, but as he does so.. it opens to reveal a Mii with a familiar name and look

au idea: just as Michael is leaving the bathroom he hears Rich screaming about mountain dew red, and he's like: 'sure. why not. might as well save him since Jeremy doesn't want it.' so Michael hands Rich the bottle he'd been hiding in his car. And bam, Rich is saved, but now Jeremy's pissed cuz his Squip stopped working, too.

Come to think of it this really might be the (almost) best situation for everyone involved. The squips are gone. No one is injured. Jake's house is intact. The play goes on as it should.

Rich trails Michael like a puppy for a few weeks before managing to integrate back into his old bunch of friends with Jake and whatnot. They were all like 'what the hell man where have you been?' And notice that something's kind of weird about him but hey it's just Rich he's always been kind of weird right?

Brooke and Chloe are still cold to each other. Maybe they make up or maybe the boyfriend stealer thing gets the better of them.

And of course Jeremy's miserable. His squip stopped working, the only thing giving him what he wanted for the first time in his life. Rich spilled the beans and now Jeremy's pissed at him. I mean, Rich tries to explain that this is better for everyone, but Jeremy's not having it. "Maybe things are better for you." Things are still awkward with Christine. Jeremy's angry at Michael's who's still upset with Jeremy. No interaction they have goes well. So for a long time Jeremy is just... angry and alone.

i can also see a future where — once Rich has settled down and managed to find his footing without the Squip's guidance — he would take on a mentor/big brother typa role with Jeremy (driven by his own guilt, the sense of responsibility he feels for pushing the Squip on to jer, and seeing his freshman-year-self in jer) he begins forcing Jeremy to touch grass, go to the gym, and trying to help him integrate into Rich's circle of friends, although it would go horribly at first, seeing as 1. Jeremy is still pissed at him, and may also be stuck in a self pitying/self deprecating cycle, not ready to move past everything yet. 2. Rich hasn't had the healthiest examples of mentors throughout his life, he's basically taking a stab in the dark. and 3. Jeremy would have a hard time getting along with Rich's clique, especially with Jake's grudge on him.

things could go in either direction from there 1. everything gets magically better for Jeremy. or 2. like you said, he spirals even further into being miserable :(
