Ranting/thoughts on my career experience so far, the positive and negative.
Hair Cuttery- A shabby little salon thats now shut down. I worked my ass off there being an assistant manager for only minimum wage. I met people of many different cultures and diversity though and learned to be comfortable with African American hair and how to blow out hair of all textures. Those things are what made this little place of diverse culture amazing.
Silhouette Hair Design- I worked for one of the meanest bosses you can imagine. Not only being two-faced, this woman often made degrading remarks to my face and was unreasonable. I gained ability in how to detail and finish work but learned do not settle for unhappiness and don't tolerate sticking to one place for fear of never finding better. I was so wrong! :-) I learned to move on if things are not changing for the better.
Cherry Blow Dry Bar- This place was sheek and awesome. I loved the companionship I had with awesome co-workers, but for a place that only paid us $10 per blow-out and paying out $11 per day for parking, it was time to move on. I did learn some mad blow out and styling skills!
Super Cuts- Another salon that feels like home. I am happy but I will not tolerate working for a place that pays my male co-worker considerably more money just because "he has more experience". We do the same job!!
My technical interview for Floyds 99 is this week and I am super excited!! After weeding through 4 hair salons since moving to a big city, I am hoping to find the right fit!!!
