Can you like explain why you think cis ace/aro ppl aren't lgbtq? Bc from what I can see your argument is that ace=het and that's incorrect. Just bc ace ppl don't have same sex attraction doesn't mean they're default "straight." Your logic there doesn't make sense at all. It's like assuming agender ppl aren't queer bc they're not "trans enough" or something so they're "basically cis."
Well, the first thing I'm gonna say is that you're right on one point, Ace does not equal het. In fact, Asexuality and heterosexuality have very little to do with each other, despite the semblance of their names. They describe very different realities, one describes a person's relation to other genders while one describes a person's to sex. This is kinda the main point of the discourse, that your want and feelings for intercourse are in no way in the same category as the genders to which you are attracted. Different things entirely. One's gender attraction is not the same or even linked to their relation to sex.This is why the whole "this is just like telling an agender person that they aren't trans enough!" Argument falls apart. Saying that to a agender person would be wrong because they are trans, since being trans is a matter of rejecting the cis labels given to us at birth. Agender people do that, trans women like myself do that, all trans people do that and all have a right to there trans identity. There is NO similarity between a cis het Ace person and a lesbian, no definite shared qualities, why would they be in the same category? It's like this, it's not that I think ace people aren't LGBT, that's a ridiculous statement, there are lots of LGBT ace people, I'm an LGBT ace person. It's about being cis and het. If someone is a cis man and is only attracted to women, than they are straight. Period. No one should be redefining the historical and relevant idea of "straightness" which is man/woman, if your attraction models exclusive man/woman attraction, you are straight. Sex was never part of the equation. Honestly, I don't really think aroace people should be called straight, but they aren't LGBT by default either. But if you are Cis and Het you are NOT LGBT. The whole thing arises from a belief that the LGBT community is for anyone who feels a little different from some abstract norm. It's not. It is for SGA and trans people, and if you aren't a part of those groups, you aren't LGBT. My logic makes perfect sense, and I encourage you to try and see what I am saying.
